Stamford teen to get up to 8 years in armed pot robbery

STAMFORD-One of two teenaged boys involved in a pot rip-off that led to a 17-year-old New Britain youth being shot in the chest last November will be spending up to eight years in prison for the armed robbery.

Senior Assistant State’s Attorney James Bernardi explained that the statute for armed robbery includes those involved, even if they did not pull the trigger.

Police say that Savior Dominguez, 16, of Stamford shot the New Britain teen and he is also charged with armed robbery.

 

Stamford man who took bottle to gunfight gets two years prison

John Reese, 28, of Connecticut Avenue, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault at the Stamford courthouse on Monday and was immediately sentenced by Judge Richard Comerford.

The alleged gunman in the incident, Freddy Hicks, 32, also of Stamford was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree assault and criminal possession of a firearm.

Reese made the plea under the Alford Doctrine where he disagreed with the state’s facts of the case, but believes he would ultimately be convicted of the charge if he were to take the case to trial.

 

Toddler sexual assault gets Stamford man 10 years in jail

Douglas Hus-Flores pleaded guilty Monday to felony charges of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child before Judge Gary White.

Ornousky pressed for the 10-year mandatory minimum jail sentence on the first-degree sexual assault charge as a way to allow Hus-Flores to plead guilty and keep the child from having to testify in the case.

The girl's mother returned home from soccer practice that night and while crying the girl told her mother Hus-Flores touched her, according to the report.

 

Carjacking gets Stamford man up to seven years in jail

Bryan Alfaro, 20, of Greenwich Avenue appeared before judge Richard Comerford and pleaded guilty to the first-degree larceny, third-degree robbery and the carjacking of a 23-year-old Stamford woman on June 12, 2016.

“Mr. Alfaro has expressed extreme remorse in terms of taking the lady’s car,” Ehring said after Alfaro made his guilty plea in a fourth-floor courtroom at the Stamford courthouse.

 

Two revived by Narcan, one dies in Stamford

In that case the male victim in his late 50s was in his home and already dead, reports of the incident show.

Medics were then called to Manhattan Street at 10:30 p.m. Saturday on a report of an unconscious woman in an apartment above a dilapidated garage.

After the woman had been administered Narcan she immediately became alert and argumentative, the report shows.

 

Teen with gun charged in armed robbery

Officers flooded the area and the would-be victim told police the suspect was 15 years old, wearing a blue jacket and maroon sweat pants.

After identifying who the teenaged suspect was, police went to the teens house and found the handgun along with other evidence of the crime, Hohn said.

The teen was charged with criminal attempt at robbery, carrying a pistol without a permit, threatening and breach of peace.

 

Man, 36, caught in teen’s bedroom in Stamford

STAMFORD — A city man is facing charges for trespassing and assaulting his sister-in-law after he was caught in his niece’s bedroom on Thursday, according to police.

Police said they were called to a Scofield Avenue home at 8:40 a.m.

 

Turnout surprisingly low for CeeLo Green show at Alive@Five

The summer concert series kicked off its 2017 season at Columbus Park Thursday with headliner CeeLo Green, but turnout was surprisingly low — less than half of what organizers expected.

With sunny skies and mild temperatures, the Grammy-winning singer was supposed to be a huge draw for the downtown.

“It was a beautiful night,” said Sandy Goldstein, president of the concert’s organizer, the Downtown Special Services District.

Stamford Police Capt. Sue Bretthauer, the district commander for the downtown, said the fire marshal counted between 2,500 and 3,000 people at the concert.

 

Girlfriend’s beating accusation lands man in Stamford jail with big bond

After being arrested Wednesday on assault, strangulation, unlawful restraint and interfering with a 911 call, recent Bronx transplant Anthony Dimaio, 28, of Bedford Street was ordered held in lieu of a $300,000 court appearance bond at his arraignment at the Stamford courthouse early Thursday afternoon.

According to his arrest warrant, Dimaio’s girlfriend came into police headquarters late in the morning of Saturday, July 1 to report that she had been beaten.

Police were told that Dimaio had a pistol and rifle and when they went to his house they found three possible handgun magazines, 10
