Stamford police: Car blocking driveway leads to marijuana discovery

Ariel Sandoval, 18, of Myano Lane, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, operating a drug factory and possession or marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school or public housing complex.

Sgt. Chris Broems said officers Tim Inverno and Philip Neri stopped to investigate the car and found two young men and detected a strong odor of marijuana.

 

Stamford police: Complaint leads to discovery of assault weapons

STAMFORD — A man who complained about his girlfriend’s son taking his car was arrested when the woman led officers to his illegal stash of assault rifles, police said.

Jensen, who told police he lives on Mansfield Avenue in Darien, was charged with two counts of possession of an assault weapon, three counts of carrying a pistol without a permit, three counts of possession of high capacity magazines and three counts of carrying a dangerous weapon.

 

City man charged with breaking another man’s jaw in Stamford

STAMFORD-A city man was charged with breaking another man’s jaw by sucker punching the man who was trying to break up an escalating fight in front of a Bedford Street bar and restaurant back in May.

Sgt. Chris Broems said police were called to Brother Jimmy’s BBQ on Bedford Street on May 7 for a man who said he had a broken jaw.

 

NTSB: bend in tracks caused Rye, N.Y. Metro-North derailment

A bend in Metro-North’s tracks — possibly caused by excessive heat — led to the May derailment of commuter train near Rye, N.Y., federal investigators said in a preliminary report.

The National Transportation Safety Board said Metro-North was aware of a bend in the tracks prior to the May 18 derailment at about 5:30 p.m. and lowered the speed limit in that area several times, eventually dropping it to 10 mph.

 

Docs: Suspects in Stamford man’s murder ordered to strip

NEW YORK — Two of the men charged in Joseph Comunale’s murder were forced to strip and hand over their clothes to another suspect who appeared ready to strangle the Stamford man with a pair of jeans, according to new court documents.

The documents were filed Wednesday at Manhattan Supreme Court by an attorney for the third defendant, Max Gemma, 29, who faces lesser charges for his alleged involvement in the aftermath of the killing.

Gemma is charged with hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence, while Dilione and Rackover’s charges include second-degree murder in the 26-year-

Scanlan said that when a customer would come in and ask for something to be shipped to their home, Shea would alter the size of the item -a pair of boots, for instance- and send it to addresses on Myrtle Avenue or Highview Avenue, which she had access to.

The items sent to the homes included a Michael Kors bag, a Kate Spade watch, womens tank tops, boots, a variety of Nike sneakers, womens shoes, Calvin Kline design wear and a Coach handbag.

 

More jail time for former high school football star in Stamford

On Monday after making another guilty plea to being a felon in possession of a gun and carrying a gun without a permit at the Stamford courthouse, Hudson has agreed to do two more years in jail when he returns to court in mid-August for sentencing. Police say the star running back, who played for the private King School from 2001-02 and ran for more than 1,100 yards and 17 touchdowns, shot seven times at a couple sitting in a car on the West Side.

 

Norwalk home invasion trial begins today in Stamford

STAMFORD-Testimony is supposed to begin in the trial of a Bridgeport man accused of the home invasion of a South Norwalk residence and injuring the woman inside.

If convicted of the home invasion charge, Marrero would face a 10-year mandatory minimum jail sentence.

 

Stamford woman charged with leaving young son in running car

Lt. Nick Montagnese said police were called to an High Ridge Road office building just below the Merritt Parking just before 9 a.m. when someone reported a child left alone in a car.

The vehicle was unlocked and running at the time with the air conditioner on at the time, Montagnese said.

 

Woman charged with threatening Stamford Hospital employees

STAMFORD-A Yonkers, New York, woman was charged with making serious threats to Stamford Hospital employees, police said.

Lt. Nick Montagnese said Deborah Acosta, 40, was charged with first-degree threatening and held in lieu of a $100,000 court appearance bond.
