Three pistols seized in illegally parked car in Stamford

STAMFORD-A patrol officer noticing something out of the ordinary seized three guns and made three arrests Wednesday afternoon after spotting an illegally parked car in near downtown.

Matthew Barkley, 24, of Bridgeport, was charged with being in possession of a high capacity magazine and possession of a controlled substance.

 

Olympic boxing hopeful charged with domestic violence

STAMFORD-A Stamford boxer aspiring to go to the Olympics has been arrested and charged with making his former girlfriend’s life a living nightmare with abuse, threats and psychological terror, police say.

After obtaining a warrant for his arrest Tuesday, police charged 19-year-old Nick Scaturchio with violating a judge’s protective order, second-degree assault, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, risk of injury to a child, robbery, larceny and threatening.

Stamford man charged with sex assault of another man

Sgt. Chris DiCarlo said that Jarion Castillo-Martinez, 40, of Wilson Street, was charged with first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault of someone who was physically helpless and purchasing liquor for a minor.

DiCarlo said that toxicology exams of the two male victims revealed they had ingested the same drug.

 

Report: Prosecutors tossing admission in Comunale case

Prosecutors plan to throw away an apparent admission by one of the chief suspects in the brutal killing of Stamford’s Joseph Comunale, according to the Daily News. Authorities believe Comunale was killed after an apparent fight over cigarettes following a drug-fueled party inside Rackover’s luxury apartment on the upper east side of Manhattan, court documents show.

 

North Stamford residents warned about burglaries

STAMFORD-Police are describing their investigation into to North Stamford burglaries as “fluid and ongoing” while warning residents to closely watch over their neighborhoods.

Sgt. Jennifer Lynch said police are investigating two residential burglaries that occurred in the early evening on Tuesday.

Lynch said the burglaries occurred on Saddle hill Road and Fox Glen Drive in North Stamford.

 

Stamford man, 51, charged with stalking girl, 15

The arrest of Julio Garcia Dubon of Anderson Street stems from a complaint made to police in March by the girl’s mother who reported that her daughter was being stalked by an older man who had been warned to stay away from the same girl a year earlier.

According to Garcia-Dubon’s four-page arrest warrant, the girl’s mother came to police headquarters and said an unknown man had followed her daughter home from Stamford Academy on March 15.

Stamford soldier will appear on memorial wall

A resident who attended school with Manselle noticed that his name was not on the wall honoring Stamford’s deceased veterans, according to a press release from the city.

“Tuesday’s event will ensure Private Manselle will be remembered for years to come with other Stamford veterans who have been killed in action or have died,” the release states.

 

Stamford police credit community in DUI arrest

The last caller, who stayed on the line with dispatchers, told police about 10 p.m. that the man blew a red light, drove over the double yellow lines on the Merritt Parkway southbound ramp and stopped in the middle of High Ridge Road, according to the report.

Matzul-Pitcho failed the field sobriety tests and was taken to police headquarters, where another test showed his blood alcohol content was more than double the legal limit of 0.08, according to the report.

 

City man arrested for dealing heroin

A Stamford man was arrested Saturday morning carrying about $200 worth of heroin and charged with peddling the drug at a downtown bus stop, according to Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin, head of the Narcotics and Organized Crime unit.

Members of the narcotics and organized crime unit were alerted Saturday that Hilliard was selling heroin at a bus stop at Atlantic and Bank street, according to police.
