Police: Swastika and Star of David drawn in feces left on Rich Forum window

Stamford Police Sgt. Steve Perrotta said police are working with security video footage that shows the back of a male suspect walking away from the building after drawing the symbols around 10:45 a.m. Sunday night.

On Monday around 11:30 a.m. Stamford police officers discovered what appeared to be a cup of feces around the corner on Tresser Boulevard and collected it as evidence, Perrotta said.

 

Building One Community/NCC graduate home health aides

STAMFORD — Twenty-three people representing 11 countries graduated this month from a home health aide training program offered through Building One Community and Norwalk Community College.

The graduates earned home health aide, home care companion and CRP/AED/first aid certificates after completing a 170-hour curriculum, which included courses on applied home care skills, vocational ESL, customer service and clinical practice at River House Adult Day Center in Greenwich.

 

Shots fired in Stamford’s South End Thursday night

Sgt. Gary Michele said just like in the shots fired call early Sunday morning in Waterside, no one was reported injured where police found seven shell casings on a dirt path near the intersection of Pacific and Henry streets.

Police recovered five casiings and a witness reported seeing three individuals fleeing the area.

 

Female cop bests marine in tussle in Stamford

STAMFORD-A city police officer was allegedly thrown to the ground by a man who was being arrested for getting into a fight outside a Harbor Point bar and restaurant at midnight Thursday.

Miguel Nieto-Vailiant, 22, of Cove Road, was charged with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, third-degree assault and breach of peace.

 

Man charged with domestic violence in The Cove

STAMFORD-A city man was charged with throwing his ex-girlfriend to the ground and pinning her arm behind her back while trying to retrieve his possessions at an apartment in The Cove Wednesday night.

Rocco Arlotta, 41, of Frederick Street, was charged with second-degree larceny, unlawful restraint, third-degree assault, breach of peace, interfering with a 911 call and third-degree robbery.

According to a police report, up until about a month ago Arlotta had been living with a woman on Martin Street for about a year.

 

Big bond ordered Stamford parking garage robbery

At the arraignment of Marquise Douglas, 28, at the Stamford courthouse early Thursday afternoon, Judge Auden Grogins ordered that the convicted felon would be held in lieu of a $300,000 cash appearance bond on the robbery charges.

“Once the court became aware of the disturbing details of this incident, it was probably agreed that this was an heinous act and if nothing else it will send a message,” Guzda said.

Douglas was arrested Wednesday for a robbery that occurred a week earlier in a underground parking garage of a building on Harvard Avenue.

 

Man charged with threatening Stamford landlord with a knife

STAMFORD-A city man was charged with threatening his roommate with a knife Thursday evening.

[...] as the two were in the kitchen of the apartment, Mijangosa-Alvarez demanded his security deposit back.

[...] Mijangosa-Alvarez disagreed and ended up grabbing a kitchen knife and allegedly held it next to one of his legs and said to the roommate, You don’t think I’ll do it?

 

Arrest made in afternoon robbery in Stamford parking garage

The gunman, who was described as a tall and slender black male with a buzz haircut, a couple days growth on his face wearing a pull over black North Face Jacket and jeans, told the woman he didn’t want to hurt her.

Within 8 minutes of the robbery, someone was using one of the credit cards inside the purse to make purchases at an Old Greenwich gas station, Guzda said.

When officers investigating the robbery began talking to property crime officers about how to investigate the fraudulent credit card charges, they were told of a series of car break-ins on May 22 in the very same parking gara

 

Stamford EMS marks 25th anniversary

“Stamford EMS employees, volunteers and supporters, along with members of local government and vital safety departments, commemorated the history and success of this private, nonprofit organization that serves Stamford and Darien,” the organization said in a news release.

Stamford goes green with new LED bulbs

STAMFORD — The city has replaced fluorescent lights with energy efficient LED bulbs at 15 public schools and the government center, a move expected to save nearly $900,000 a year in electricity costs.

The Energy Improvement District (EID) project will save us money, provide better lighting, and reduce our carbon footprint, Mayor David Martin said in a news release.
