“Stamford EMS employees, volunteers and supporters, along with members of local government and vital safety departments, commemorated the history and success of this private, nonprofit organization that serves Stamford and Darien,” the organization said in a news release. “Our organization went from a fledgling paramedic ambulance provider to a service that is recognized as one of the premiere organizations in the state of Connecticut and the United States,” Wiederlight said, noting the group’s status as the only accredited ambulance service in the state. Since 1992, Stamford EMS has responded to an estimated 300,000 calls.
