New Milford man dies in car crash

According to police, Joseph K. Sciacca, 64, was traveling along the road shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday when he lost control of his 1999 Ford Ranger while navigating around a sharp turn.

The police department’s Accident Reconstruction Team was sent to the scene to further investigate the accident.

 

Part of preserve to close for deer hunt

The Nature Conservancy decided to have a controlled hunt in an effort to restore the balance of plant and animal species in the preserve and to maintain the native ecology of the forest, according to a release from the Nature Conservancy. Many tree species, especially oaks, are unable to regenerate because acorns and saplings are being eaten by the deer, according to a release from the Nature Conservancy.

 

Police, FBI seize drugs, $30,000 from Danbury man

Based on a surveillance of Ivan Rojas-Dominguez and other investigative techniques, investigators were able to observe Ivan Rojas-Dominguez engage in activity consistent with trafficking illegal drugs.

During a search of his bedroom, investigators seized drug paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking, several ounces of cocaine and more than $30,000 in cash.

 

Children’s musician performing at Danbury Library Saturday

DANBURY - Children’s musician Graham Clarke is scheduled to perform Saturday at Danbury Library. The performance, for kids from 2 years old to 7 years old, is planned from 11 a.m. to noon at the Library, 170 Main St. The event is free but registration is required. Two arrested after string of Danbury car thefts

DANBURY - Police are warning residents to keep valuable out of their cars after two minors purportedly rifling through a car in the downtown were arrested this week.

According to a statement released by police, a resident on Shannon Ridge awoke around 3 a.m. on Oct. 30 to find three people going through his vehicle.

 

Hearing on Ridgefield food truck law is Wednesday

The proposed revisions to the ordinance would ban new food trucks or carts from setting up in permanent locations throughout town with two exceptions: the site of the Chez Lenard hot dog stand on Main Street and the site of the Zawack Shack on Route 7. First Selectman Rudy Marconi said that review is now complete.

 

Stroffolino Bridge having opening, closing problems

NORWALK - There traffic problems around the Stroffolino Bridge that had some problems with opening and closing Saturday.

As of 12:40 p.m. Saturday, traffic is being detoured away from the bridge.

The bridge is a vital link connecting East and South Norwalk.

A bridge inspector is enroute to assess the situation with the bridge.

There is no word on when the bridge will be fully opened to traffic.

Last month, the bridge was stuck in the open position, one of several recent instances of being unable to close.

The bridge needs to be open for marine traffic.

 

Route 109 closed in Washington

WASHINTON - State Police have shut down Route 109 ner the Morris line due to a tractor trailer truck that slammed into a tree along the side of the roadway.

Police said the driver of the truck, whose name was not immediatley released, was sent to Waterbury Hosptial with non life threatening injuries. The truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident.

Police are investigating the accident.

2 fugitives in bank robbery, caught sleeping

“Their arrests unfolded after the Connecticut State Police notified the Sheriff’s Office at about 11:30 a.m.that the men were wanted for an alleged Sept. 23 bank robbery in Canterbury and that they were believed to be somewhere in the area of Brewster, N.Y.
