Danbury man gets 14 years in prison for stabbing

Danbury crews battle fire on Wildman Street

DANBURY - Police are directing traffic away from Wildman Street this morning while crews with the fire department battle a garage that erupted into flames this morning.

According to fire officials, the blaze started in a single car garage behind a residence on Wildman Street. No injuries have been reported and the garage is detached from the home.

Officials said that the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, although wood stove and electrical service to the garage are areas of interest for investigators.

 

Report: Ridgefield man dies of drug overdose

A powder substance and drug paraphernalia was seized as part of the investigation, which is ongoing, Barown said. The body was transported from the scene by representatives of the state Medical Examiner’s Office.

 

Reports: Serious injury in Bridgeport shooting

BRIDGEPORT—A woman was shot near a gas station around 9:15 p.m., according to police dispatch reports.

Officials have not yet confirmed the reports, which stated that th woman was rushed to a hospital with a headwound.

The Citgo Gas Station, at 1025 East Main Streat, sits in a residential neighborhood near the Beardsley Zoo, in the norteastern part of the city.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for New Haven County and a winter weather advisory for Fairfield County.

The change from Friday’s forecast is more snow and a bigger impact in New Haven County and the eastern half of of the state.

Snow totals have also increased for Fairfield County.

In Fairfield County, the NWS’s most likely accumulation totals are 6 to 8 inches in Bridgeport, 4 to 6 inches in Greenwich, Stamford and Norwalk.

The winter storm warning and winter weather advisory is in effect until 1 a.m.

 

Major roads just wet; slippery conditions still possible

Major highways like the I-95, I-84 and the Merritt and Wilbur Cross parkways are mainly wet after being treated with a salt brine solution by state Department of Transportation Department crews. Troopers: Man stole wallet, shopped at Southbury CVS

Through the course of the investigation investigators determined that the victim's credit card was used later in the day at CVS in Southbury.

Freight train derails in Brookfield

BROOKFIELD - Several cars from a freight train heading north to Massachusetts derailed near Silvermine Road Tuesday afternoon, officials with Housatonic Railroad have confirmed.

Matt Whitney, an attorney with the railroad, said several cars derailed around noon near Silvermine Road and no injuries resulted from the accident.

2 dead in shooting outside Oakdale theater

WALLINGFORD - Police say two are dead and two injured after a shooting outside a Connecticut theater late Friday night following a concert.

A Wallingford police spokeswoman tells the Record Journal (http://bit.ly/2hVKvqz ) that officers responded to reports of shots fired outside the Oakdale Theatre after rapper Meek Mill performed.
