Motorcycle accident closes Clapboard Ridge Road in Danbury

Clapboard Ridge Road closed shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday in both direction because of an accident involving a car and a motorcycle, according to emergency communications.

According to the report, the road was closed between Ventura Avenue and Ridgewood Street.

 

Four charged after fight in Danbury club

Four people were arrested Saturday following an early morning fight at a West Street club that sent one to the hospital.

Danbury Police Sgt. John Krupinsky said officers broke up the fight at about 3:15 p.m. after being called to the Elks Lodge.

According to a statement issued by police, the fire department was called at around 8 p.m. for man who lives on Division Street who had wandered into Tarrywile Park and was lost.

Two teams of rescuers, each consisting of five firefighters, two police officers, a paramedic and a park employee scoured the area for more than an hour.

According to a statement released Wednesday, the university’s police department has been receiving a number of calls concerning a person or persons appearing in public areas wearing a clown custom.

“As always, officers are conducting regular patrol checks on campus and in public areas to ensure the safety of our community,” Western police said in a statement issued Wednesday.

 

Crack seized at Danbury public housing complex

DANBURY — Crack cocaine ready for sale and four small children were discovered this week by detectives at a public housing apartment along High Ridge after a month long investigation into drug trafficking in the area.

According to a statement released by police on Wednesday, detectives with the department’s Special Investigations Division along with the Community Conditions Unit and the Emergency Services Unit conducted searches of a car owned by Waterbury resident Gerarld “Hit” Rockhead Jr. and an apartment located in the High Ridge Road operated by the Danbury Housing Authority.

 

Reports of suicidal man prompts lockdown of Danbury high school

DANBURY — Immaculate High School and a local nursing home were placed on lockdown early Tuesday morning after police responded to reports of a suicidal man with a rifle in the neighborhood.

According to a statement issued by police, officers responded to Garfield Avenue at around 7 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving a report that a man had posted a Facebook message indicating that he had a rifle and wanted to kill himself.

 

Danbury firefighters extricate two people from sedan

An occupant of the Explorer who was suffering from potentially serious internal injuries and another passenger from the sports utility vehicle were also transported by ambulance to the hospital, a fire official said.

According to a news bulletin, two cars and a pole are involved in the accident, which was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m.
