Stamford man charged with flushing drugs in public bathroom

STAMFORD-A city man inside Leone Park yelling out a warning that cops were in the park late Tuesday afternoon was charged with drug possession after he allegedly tried to flush his drugs down the public toilet, police said.

Pet’s attack spurs coyote fear near Stamford downtown

STAMFORD — Caryn Bogatch has experienced every pet owner’s worst nightmare, a threat many don’t realize even exists here.

Man charged with using gun to steal bike from Stamford kid

Eli Castillo-Zavala, 24, of Manor Street, Stamford, was charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and Michael Steven Cortez, 19, was also charged with armed robbery and conspiracy.

When they got there the 12-year-old robbery victim and his mother told police that he was on his bike in the park when was approached by five young Hispanic men.

Senior K-9 retires from Stamford police at 10 years

STAMFORD-The Stamford police K-9 Unit on Monday retired expert tracker Titan after six and one-half years on the job with his handler officer Mark Tymon.

K-9 Unit Sgt. Seth O’Brien said that the German Shepherd had served the department very well in his time and was now 10 years old and it was time for him to hang up his bulletproof harness.

O’Brien said that police dogs often retire between eight and 10 years old and he retired his own dog, Cooper, the last dog to in the department to step down after he turned 10 this past November.

Elderly man robbed at knife point in Stamford

Trial begins for Stamford man accused of groping 12-year-old

The trial of a 44-year-old man charged in 2014 with allegedly groping the breast 12-year-old friend of his daughter’s during a sleep-over at his house is set to start Monday in Stamford, police said.

Aziz El Hattab, of Stamford, is facing charges of fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts of felony risk of injury to a child following an investigation.

 

Park crackdown on bad behavior in Stamford

STAMFORD-Police conducted a crackdown over the weekend at Cummings Park, issuing 38 tickets for drinking, marijuana possession, vehicle infractions and a man peeing in public.

According to a release announcing the crackdown from Stamford police, the move was made in response to a number of complaints made over the past two months about loud music, excessive drinking, public drunkenness, urinating in public, drug use and people driving recklessly through the park.

As a result of such behavior, some seniors and families with children said they did not want to use the park as often.
