STAMFORD — Caryn Bogatch has experienced every pet owner’s worst nightmare, a threat many don’t realize even exists here. Coyotes, first reported in Connecticut in the 1950s, are found now across the state and northeast, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. “They have no natural predators, so we have to take on that role and make sure we’re instilling fear in the them,” he said. [...] last year, the family of a 12-year-old North Stamford girl said she was stalked by coyotes on her way home from the bus stop. Since Dewey’s attack, Bogatch has warned her neighbors with dogs about the danger of coyotes.
