Car rolls over at North Street gas station

According to witnesses, two men who were pumping gas at the Shell gas station were involved in a heated argument and were screaming profanities at each other prior to the accident.

After the argument, the driver of a tan Honda Pilot pulled away from the gas pump at a high rate of speed, lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a light pole at the gas station near the entrance to North Street, witnesses said.

 

Town meetings will decide Brookfield fee ordinance, sewer project

The cost of the project would be entirely paid for by the condo owners. Because the town’s Water Pollution Control Authority can not borrow money on its own, Brookfield must borrow the money on its behalf.

 

Have an ice cream with Ridgefield police

The police department is partnering with Deborah Ann’s Sweet Shop for a “Cops & Cones” event that will take place outside the Main Street ice cream and candy store from 5 to 7 p.m, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

According to the post, a police car will be parked outside and officers will have giveaway items for kids.

Grove Street now open in New Milford

Grove Street in New Milford reopened late Friday morning after it had closed earlier because of a two car crash, police said.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. and the road closed between Anderson Avenue and Fordyce Road.

Police said there were injuries reported in the crash, but the extent was not known.

 

Shoplifting suspects caught on camera

State and Southbury police are looking for two woman who allegedly shoplifted about $1,400 in cosmetics from Walgreen’s on Thursday.

Bethel man charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl

DANBURY — A 30-year-old Bethel man was arrested this week after police said he sexually assaulted a teenager.

Detectives from Danbury Police’s Special Victims Unit started an investigation after receiving a complaint in February that a 14-year-old was pregnant.

On Aug. 10, a warrant for Felimon Cruz’s arrest was granted by Danbury Superior Court. On Monday, Cruz was charged with second degree assault and risk of injury to a minor (sexual contact).

Bond was set at $75,000. The investigation is ongoing.

 

Former Newtown teacher in gun case applied for a probation program

The former eighth-grade science teacher faces a felony charge of possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Adams, who has a valid pistol permit, was arrested April 6 after a Newtown Middle School employee told security personnel that Adams appeared to have a weapon concealed under his clothing.

 

Bat-wielding Danbury man strikes out in burglary attempt

A Danbury man wielding a baseball bat struck out Friday when he tried to collect on a $40 debt, police said.

Police said Felipe Carmo, 22 of Harvard Road, forced his way into a Spruce Street residence seeking the money he said he was owed for a baseball hat. But after the victim alerted police, Carmo was arrested after leaving the home empty handed.

Carmo is charged with 1st degree burglary and threatening, police said.

Bond was set at $5,000.

 

911 bathroom break slowed response to assault of Danbury cop

DANBURY — A police officer who was violently attacked last month while waiting for backup to arrive apparently wasn’t the first time an officer was injured on the job during a delayed response from the city’s privatized dispatch center. The vicious attack on officer Joe Pooler on July 30 that left him with a concussion and a broken jaw sparked outrage among both the public and fellow officers when it was revealed that Pooler was dispatched to his own assault and it took more than four mintues for other officers to arrive.
