Royal Oak DDA closes on deal for $40M apartment complex at I-696 and Main

It's taken 30 years, but Royal Oak's Downtown Development Authority has sold the last four-acre parcel of empty land it owns at Main Street and I-696 to developer who will build a four-story apartment building there.The deal has been in the works for about two years. Singh Development, LLC of West Bloomfield paid $2.

 

Another Pontiac home hit by gunfire, woman and kids inside

Gunshots were reported fired Monday night into a Pontiac apartment, while three kids and a woman were inside.No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred shortly after 10 p.m. in the 600 block of Newman Lane, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Several bullet holes were found in the apartment's windows and outside walls, the sheriff's office said, and physical evidence was collected from outside the apartment.

 

Sheriff: White Lake man had unregistered loaded gun, marijuana

A 19-year-old man from White Lake Township was arrested on a weapons charge and for fleeing police following a reported fight in Orion Township on Monday night.According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the 100 block of Parakeet Hill Drive due to a fight in-progress and were told one of the people involved in the fight had fled the scene.

The Kids First Initiative STEAM Camp is back for its second year in a row with more scholarship opportunities for kids. The camp, designed for second to sixth graders, incorporates the arts into project-based learning activities in the science, technology and math fields.

A woman who worked at a Pontiac medical facility has been charged in federal court with stealing patients' personal identifying information and defrauding the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency.The indictment of Aline Harris, 34 of Detroit, was announced June 12 by United States Attorney Matthew Schneider.

Police contacted about reported poaching incident

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources was contacted about a reported case of poaching in White Lake Township. According to White Lake Township Police, the incident occurred on June 3. Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Sunset after a caller said she heard a gunshot in the area.
