Bear spotted on I-84 in Southbury

SOUTHBURY — A black bear was reportedly spotted walking along Interstate 84 on Friday morning, State Police said.

The Record-Journal reports the bear was hit in the eastbound lanes of the roadway, but no vehicle was found at the scene.

 

Danbury couple faces new drug charges

Members of the police department’s Special Investigations Division executed a search warrant at the couple’s Lois Street home on April 13 and found numerous oxycodone hydrochloride tablets, about $1,500 in cash and marijuana, police said.

The couple has several pending drug charges in court stemming from a similar arrest on Nov. 11, when police said they raided the home and found assorted narcotics, controlled substances and several thousand dollars in cash.

 

Cops: Danbury man caught breaking into ex’s home

DANBURY — A city man and his new girlfriend were arrested Tuesday after police caught them trying to break into his ex-girlfriend’s home, authorities said.

Police learned of the attempted burglary about 10 p.m. and immediately headed to the victim’s house, according to the report.

 

Train hits car in Mt. Kisco

Harlem Line trains are experiencing minor delays after a train struck a car near Mt. Kisco, N.Y., Wednesday afternoon, an MTA spokeswoman said.

Spokeswoman Nancy Gamerman said that a Metro-North train that left Grand Central Terminal for Southeast at 2:22 p.m. “clipped” an unoccupied car that broke down on the tracks at the Green Lane crossing in Mt. Kisco.

Gamerman said no one was injured in the crash that took place shortly before 3:30 p.m.

The accident took place about 3:30 p.m.

NEWTOWN — A Berkshire Road resident faces charges after police said he returned items the town’s social services department bought for him and pocketed the money.

 

Police: Brookfield man waved gun at driver

SOUTHBURY — Police arrested a Brookfield man this week after a two-month investigation found he waved a gun at another driver during a road rage incident. Police said they met both drivers and eventually determined that Altberg waved his weapon at the victim after a heated exchange.

 

Cops: Woman caught with heroin outside Newtown police station

NEWTOWN — A woman gave her boyfriend a ride to the police station and then got arrested, too, after officers found heroin in her car, authorities said.

Police said the officers asked the woman to bring them to her car, which was in the back parking lot, and she then admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle.

 

Women attacked at Danbury gas station

DANBURY — Four women face assault charges after police said they attacked two others at a gas station Thursday night.

Police said the driver’s passenger then came back from the convenience store and found four women on top of her friend, with one of them strangling her.

 

Another Newtown student faces sexting charge

NEWTOWN — A Newtown High School student was arrested Friday after a two-month investigation found he shared nude pictures of a classmate with other people, police said.

In January and February, police arrested five Newtown High School students and referred 20 others to a juvenile review board for sharing pictures and videos of their classmates with friends.

 

Ducklings rescued from Brookfield storm drain

BROOKFIELD — A family of baby ducks was reunited with their mother Friday morning after police rescued them from the bottom of a storm drain.

Police said a woman was driving along Route 133 in front of Saint Joseph School when she saw an injured duck on top of a storm drain.

When the driver approached the animal, she noticed the mother duck was standing guard over a brood of 11 ducklings who had fallen through the grate, police said on their Facebook page.
