PD: Danbury men hid teens in closet at drug-fueled party

Mongero and Espinal were each charged with risk of injury to a minor, second-degree unlawful restraint and possession of a controlled substance.

Espinal, a 19-year-old South Street resident with several pending felony charges, also was charged with possession of drugs with intent to sell.

 

Former Newtown shooter’s doctor charged with sex assault

Police said the doctor, who practiced in Brookfield before giving up his state medical license in in 2013, had a sexual relationship with an adult client between October 2010 and October 2011.

According to a 2013 health department report, Fox and the woman had a “personal consensual sexual relationship for more than one year.”

 

Accused car thieves arrested in Danbury

DANBURY — Two people were arrested Thursday after a license plate reader from a State Police cruiser alerted troopers to a stolen car on Interstate 84.

Alexander Santopietro, 26, of Southbury, was charged with third-degree larceny, possession of narcotics, violation of protective order and use of drug paraphernalia.

 

Three charged after confronting Brookfield cops

BROOKFIELD — An 18-year-old man and two juveniles were arrested this week after trying to resist arrest following an accident near Whisconier Road, police said.

Brookfield officers quickly found the evading car in the area of Obtuse Hill and Tower roads and asked the drivers and his five juvenile passengers to get out of the car, police said.

 

Bicyclist hits tree in Kent

KENT — A Life Star helicopter was called Thursday afternoon after a bicyclist crashed into a tree on Bulls Ridge Road, police said.

The accident took place about 4 p.m. near South Kent School.

The extent of the injuries was not immediately clear.

No further information was available Thursday afternoon.

 

Danbury woman faces weapon, drug charges

DANBURY — An 18-year-old city woman is facing charges after police said she was caught with heroin and brass knuckles early Monday morning.

Officers on patrol saw Melissa Ruscoe carrying brass knuckles, which are classified as a dangerous weapon in Connecticut, about 1:45 a.m. Monday on Kennedy Avenue, according to the report.

After she was placed under arrest, an officer also found she had an undisclosed amount of heroin, police said.

Ruscoe was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics near a school and carrying a dangerous weapon.

 

Case continued for Newtown teacher facing gun charge

Adams, who has a valid pistol permit, was arrested April 6 after a Newtown Middle School employee told security personnel that Adams appeared to have a weapon concealed under his clothing.

Adams, who has taught at the middle school for 10 years, is on administrative leave with pay while police and the school district conduct further investigations.

Marks was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony offense, and second- and third-degree criminal trespass.

Marks has previously been convicted of burglary, larceny, breach of peace, criminal mischief and criminal trespass, according to the state Judicial Branch website.

 

Bethel police heard final gunshot at murder-suicide

BETHEL — Police investigating a “hang-up” call to 911 from a Governors Lane home heard a gunshot just as they arrived at the scene of what turned out to be a murder-suicide, according to a recently unsealed search warrant.

Anh Cristofalo, 68, suffered a cervical spine injury and underwent surgery the day of the shooting, according to the warrant.

The tenant, who moved in with his sister and brother-in-law in 1994, was initially given two months to leave the housem but the two parties agreed last fall that Pham could stay until March 25 — the day of the shooting.
