Opioid Action Committee to meet

LIMA — The Opioid Action Committee will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize and Hardin Counties board room, 529 S. Elizabeth St., Lima.
Representatives from Coleman, St. Rita’s, Lima Police Department, UMADAOP, Lima Memorial Health System and Partnership for Violence Free Families will update the committee.

Event celebrates Stan Lee’s creativity

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Stan Lee was the subject of a love fest Tuesday night, as actors, directors, artists and illustrators lauded the Marvel Comics legend for creating a vast universe of fantastic, flawed, righteous and relatable superheroes.
Mark Ruffalo, Aisha Tyler, Lou Ferrigno, RZA and comics creator Todd McFarlane were among the speakers at “Extraordinary: Stan Lee,” a tribute hosted by Chris Hardwick and broadcast into more than 150 movie theaters across the country.

Auditions set for Wapakoneta Theatre Guild’s “Saving Grace”

WAPAKONETA — The Wapakoneta Theatre Guild is holding auditions for its production of “Saving Grace.”
Auditions are at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28 and Tuesday, Aug. 29 on the second floor of the Chamber of Commerce office, 30 E. Auglaize St., Wapakoneta.
The casting calls for three men and two women; ages are flexible.

CSS Publishing Co. releases vignettes collection

LIMA — CSS Publishing Co., of Lima, announced the release of Peter Andrew Smith’s “Lectionary Stories for Preaching and Teaching: Series II, Cycle B.” Smith uses the Gospel of Mark to tell modern-day stories.
Smith graduated from the University of New Brunswick and the Atlantic School of Theology. Hean ordained minister in the United Church of Canada and has served congregations throughout Atlantic Canada. He is currently ministering at St. James United Church and is a visiting chaplain at St. Francis Xavier University.
