Federal judge delays sentencing man who plotted US attacks

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A federal judge on Friday delayed a sentencing hearing for a man who plotted to kill military members in the U.S., with the judge saying he needed more information, including the man’s current state of mind.
It’s not uncommon for judges to ask for extra details about a defendant and a case before a hearing. Less common is for those requests to come during a scheduled sentencing, which on Friday was attended by several members of defendant Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud’s family, prosecutors, defense attorneys and FBI agents.

NASA, PBS marking 40 years since Voyager spacecraft launches

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Forty years after blasting off, Earth’s most distant ambassadors — the twin Voyager spacecraft — are carrying sounds and music of our planet ever deeper into the cosmos.
Think of them as messages in bottles meant for anyone — or anything — out there.
This Sunday marks the 40th anniversary of NASA’s launch of Voyager 2, now almost 11 billion miles distant. It departed from Cape Canaveral on Aug. 20, 1977 to explore Jupiter and Saturn.

Get This: Escape artist llama makes bid for freedom on golf course

JACKSON, N.H. (AP) — Maybe these golfers in New Hampshire didn’t yell “fore” but they might have considered “llama on the links.”
Golfers at Eagle Mountain Golf Course in Jackson were joined Monday on the sixth fairway by a llama that escaped from his pen about 2 miles (over 3 kilometers) through some woods.
The Conway Daily Sun reports that the pack animal, named Noir, was friendly and got in pictures with the golfers.

Jay Ambrose: The North Korean threat

Susan Rice, national security advisor to President Barack Obama, recently said the United States could live with a nuclear regime in North Korea but failed to answer an important question. For how long?
After all, North Korean President Kim Jong Un, weird of appearance, weird of mind and downright murderous when it comes to eliminating fellow officials and relatives he does not trust, has said he just may wipe out America someday.
