Wapakoneta Chamber seeks Halloween Parade Entries

WAPAKONETA — The Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking entries for the 2017 Halloween Parade. The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds.
Area clubs, organizations, businesses, churches, sports teams, schools, bands and individuals are invited to participate. Parade applications are due by Oct. 4.
Registration forms are available at the Chamber office, 30 E. Auglaize St. Applications may be mailed to P.O. Box 208, Wapakoneta or emailed to admin@wapakoneta.com.

Moody’s affirms Blanchard Health System’s A2 rating

FINDLAY — Blanchard Valley Health System was affirmed as an A2 rating from Moody’s Investors Service.
The affirmation was received due to the solid operating performance, market position and favorable service of the health system. Moody’s acknowledged the health system’s high operating leverage as well.

 

Harrod breeder, exhibitors score big at state fair

HARROD — Local breeders fared well at the Best of the Buckeye program, which is hosted by the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association in conjunction with the Ohio Beef Expo and the Ohio State Fair.
The program, which ran from July 26 through Aug. 6, recognizes top Ohio bred, born and registered calves, along with the breeder and exhibitor, in each breed division at the two shows.

 

Thayer Road to be reduced to 1 lane Thursday

LIMA — Thayer Road in Bath Township will be reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the Allen County Engineer’s Office.
The lane reduction will allow for roadway constructure and could cause possible delays.

CHICAGO — In our last installment, I’d been pantsed by the TSA, fleeced by the rental car company, and nearly hammered to death by mosquitoes in the hometown I hadn’t visited in five years.
Do not become alarmed. This is pretty much how I always roll.
Now we’re leaving behind the malarial joys of the northwest suburbs for the city, which is really where my heart resides. My guitar gently weeps for Chicago, my ancestral comfort zone.
Cue John Prine. Turn on the Cubs. Order me an Italian beef combo, extra peppers, extra beef, extra everything.
