Urbana's Market at the Square beginning its 40th season Saturday

URBANA — Market at the Square, Urbana's outdoor farmer's market, will open for the season Saturday morning.
Vendors will be on site from 7 a.m. to noon in the usual location at the corner of Illinois and Vine streets by Lincoln Square.
The market will be held each Saturday morning, rain or shine, through Oct. 26.
This is the 40th year for this popular outdoor market.

Danville man gets mental-health-based probation for bank robbery

Ruben Portugal, 21, of Danville was approved for the speciality probation by a committee that included a judge, according to his attorney, Baku Patel. Portugal will get counseling and medication through Crosspoint Human Services in Danville.

Virginia company proposing 120-turbine wind farm in Piatt County

What is being considered is a project of up to 200 megawatts that Apex Clean Energy hopes to have online by the end of 2021, providing an estimated $65 million in tax revenue to county governments over 30 years.

The Goose Creek Wind Project, which would erect up to 120 turbines in northern Piatt County and provide millions to area school districts, is being proposed by Virginia-based Apex Clean Energy.
