Joint 50th reunion planned for Champaign, Centennial classes of 1969

CHAMPAIGN — The 50th reunion for the Class of 1969 of both Champaign Central and Centennial high schools will be held Aug. 9-10.
The Aug. 9 celebration will be held at Lincolnshire Fields Country Club with a buffet meal and cash bar and DJ Eddie Bane playing music from the 1960s.

Champaign man arrested in fatal shooting of 16-year-old in August

Darrion White, 19, was arrested Thursday evening on charges of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of David Sankey just before Labor Day weekend in northwest Champaign.

CHAMPAIGN — A Champaign man is in custody in connection with the August 2018 fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy in northwest Champaign.

 

A cappella group to play the Virginia

The concert is  Oct. 28, with tickets going on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday.

Dense fog advisory issued for part of East Central Illinois

Visibility could be reduced to one quarter of a mile. So be sure to slow down, use your headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you when driving around the area.

The National Weather Service says a portion of East Central Illinois is under a dense fog advisory until 9 a.m. Thursday.
The advisory includes Champaign, Coles, Douglas, Edgar, and Vermilion counties.
