Flash flood watch issued for most of the area

There is the potential for several inches of rain falling on already saturated ground, which may lead to flash flooding.

The National Weather Service says most of East Central Illinois will be under a flash flood watch starting Tuesday evening.
The watch includes Champaign, Coles, DeWitt, Douglas, Macon, Moultrie, Piatt, and Shelby counties. It will be in effect until Wednesday evening.

Woman gets second-chance probation for stealing $18,000 from employer

Alexus Hasler, 26, of Champaign pleaded guilty Monday to theft between $10,000 and $100,000, admitting that she made fake refunds while working as a bookkeeper at ValuCheck in Champaign.

URBANA — A Champaign woman who told police she stole almost $18,000 from her employer to pay family bills has been given a chance to avoid a felony conviction.

 

Danville's city engineer resigning after 14 years to launch his own firm

David Schnelle said Monday that he tendered his letter of resignation to Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. on Friday. On Monday, Williams confirmed the resignation, saying the city will 'begin a search for our new city engineer post haste.'
