Cities touting projects made possible by federal funds currently at risk

As part of Community Development Week, Champaign and Urbana are showing off the accomplishments made possible with Community Development Block Grants, which President Donald Trump's budget calls for eliminating.

CHAMPAIGN — Last year alone, federal funds through the Community Development Block Grant program positively impacted 60 households in Champaign.

On the heels of an impressive lineup of live music and comedy acts in 2018, the Vermilion County establishment is set to open its outdoor venue this weekend with a lineup that's already exceeding last year's.

DANVILLE — The first live music Brad Key ever heard was as a kid with his dad at the Moose Lodge near Exit 210 on Interstate 74.

Man on parole for 2016 Campustown beating arrested on drug charges

Korrion Taylor, 21, of Champaign was charged Friday with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a Class 1 felony, after police said they found just over 10 grams of suspected cocaine in his home.

URBANA — A Champaign man on parole for aggravated battery for taking part in attacking a man in Campustown almost three years ago has been arrested again.

 

Champaign school district enrollment up 226 for 2019-20

The district has hovered around a 10,000-student mark since the 2016-17 school year, when it hit 10,060.

CHAMPAIGN — Continuing a five-year trend, enrollment continues to increase within the Champaign school district, with current counts projecting at least 10,240 students enrolled next year.
