New courthouse lockers to be installed in late May

Citing safety concerns, county sheriff said he intended to suspend use of the lockers in the lobby of the sheriff's office at 204 E. Main St. as of May 1.

URBANA — New lockers for Champaign County Courthouse patrons to park their electronics should be operational in about a month.

Auditor calls for return of some grant funding from Illinois Public Media

URBANA — A recent audit done by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's inspector general has advised that Urbana-based Illinois Public Media be asked to return more than $67,000 of a federally-funded grant based on accounting errors.

 

Friends rally for injured bicyclist

A driver struck and critically injured Jonathon Parrish, who was was biking in southeast Urbana.

URBANA — Friends, including many from the local music community, are raising funds for Jonathon Parrish, the bicyclist hit by a car April 22.
By Sunday afternoon, the $10,000 Go Fund Me goal was reached, with $10,760 raised.

Teri McGinness Dennis, 67 and living in Paris, Ill., will reunite with others in the Class of '69 when Shiloh celebrates turning 50 on May 11.
