Former Westport head lifeguard avoids jail for voyeurism

STAMFORD-The former head lifeguard of Burying Hill Beach in Westport accused of secretly photographing his female colleagues, avoided jail after pleading guilty to five counts of voyeurism at the Stamford courthouse on Friday. In August of 2915, police said two female lifeguards reported to Westport Water Front Director Kaitlin Mello that they had noticed two unusual clocks placed in seemingly random location in the lifeguard shack.

Strate said that after they went through the man’s pockets, they took out a cell phone and his wallet.

STAMFORD — Enjoy an afternoon immersed in Korean culture: watch a documentary on its industry and art, plus a reenactment of a traditional wedding followed by a Korean meal.

The Ferguson Library and Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project will present Fifty Wonders of Korea: The Hidden Treasures of Korean Art and Modern Korea on Sunday, April 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Ferguson Library.

Blockbuster is gone, but sign endures in Stamford

Blockbuster rebranded itself as an entertainment company in 1996 — when DVDs came on the scene — dropping the “video” from its name and updating its logo.

Tarrywile Park holds its first Easter egg hunt

DANBURY — Over 100 kids, colorful baskets at hand, anxiously waited around Tarrywile Park on Saturday afternoon for the cue from event organizer Meghan Friedland.

In a mad dash, the groups started searching for candy-filled Easter eggs in three seperate areas of the park — one for children under 5, another for ages 6 through 8 and a third for ages 9 through 12.

All items in the raffle baskets were donated by local businesses, and all profits from raffle tickets, entry fees and Easter bunny photos would be donated to Tarrywile Park.

 

Police: Danbury man causes damage, flees while driving under the influence

DANBURY—A Danbury man caused severe damage in a residential neighborhood Friday while driving under the influence, police said.

Aires Carneiero, 57, told police he was coming from a bar on Main Street when they arrived at the scene on Boat Road at 1:20 a.m. Friday.

 

Police: Woman knocked unconscious and robbed by Danbury man

Police said West asked for money before punching the woman in the back of the head, knocking her temporarily unconscious.

The woman became conscious again, according to police, when West punched her in the face and she then dropped $80.

 

Red light runner leads police to two guns in Stamford

During a search of the car, a single bullet belonging to an assault rifle was found along with joint and a small amount of marijuana.

With their interest piqued by the assault rifle round, officers on the scene called in an explosives smelling dog and found a bullet for different type of assault rifle along with two more 9 millimeter bullets for a semiautomatic pistol.
