STAMFORD-One of the oldest Christmas parties in Stamford kicked off just like it has for well over a half-century when Santa arrived in a police car.

No, it wasn’t a case of Santa having too much cheer, but rather Santa bringing cheer to about 75 ARI clients at their annual party and gift give away Friday afternoon.

Gerard Gasparino, ARI’s manager of development and recreation, said all of his “consumers” look forward to the party and receiving gifts that are especially purchased for each recipient.

According to the report, the mushrooms were grown by using syringes to inject spores into the rye seed.

Woman gets robbery charge for fighting with liquor store clerk in Stamford

A Stamford woman with a ravenous thirst for flavored vodkas and white rum was arrested Thursday night for biting a store clerk who was trying to keep her from leaving a liquor store with five bottles of booze stuffed into her purse, police said.

Blanc said that while Scates was in the store the store clerk noticed that she was trying to walk out with five bottles of liquor hidden in her purse.

Police responded to an alarm at about 4:30 a.m. Friday at the Verizon Store at 972 High Ridge Road to find a six foot by six foot plate glass window that had been crashed by some object.

In the other series of burglaries, which included two other stores on the south end of High Ridge, the thief used rocks to crash through glass front doors, while leaving the plate windows intact.

STAMFORD — A $23,000 gift from a local nonprofit is being used to purchase roomy cat cages for the city’s animal shelter.

In addition to the cages, H/3 is paying for soundproofing that will prevent noise in the dog kennel from reaching other parts of the building, and for new speakers that will play soothing classical music in the cat room.

Just before lunch on Thursday, the jury sent Judge Richard Comerford out a note saying that it was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on Frazier’s guilt or innocence.

After the sexual encounter the woman went to her mother’s home, told her what happened and the police were called.
