Police seek suspects in armed robbery at Stamford park

Police Sgt. Chris Broems said three juveniles, one brandishing a gun and another holding a knife, approached the group about 11 p.m. and demanded their cell phones.

At one point, police said, Curtis Williams pulled an 8.5-inch folding knife from his pocket and threatened his neighbor.

Nearby residents then called the police, who arrived and arrested both brothers without further incident.

Curtis Williams was charged with criminal possession of a dangerous weapon, second-degree threatening, third-degree assault and breach of peace.

STAMFORD — Emergency crews rushed to North Stamford Tuesday afternoon after a car crashed into a pond.

The accident took place about 2 p.m. on Rock Rimmon Road.

The driver escaped uninjured before the car sank, according to the Stamford Fire Department. The Lexus SUV has a New York license plate.

STAMFORD — A felon who was already back in jail now faces additional charges after a lengthy investigation linked him to a bizarre robbery in the Cove, police said.

Bailey — who’s previously served time in jail for burglary and violating probation and has several pending criminal cases for similar charges — is now also charged with second-degree forgery, second-degree identity theft, third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny, among other offenses.

Stamford police said Bailey broke into a West Side apartment on Sept.

The man, who was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, could not provide a description of the robbers, according to the report.

The thief, who was wearing dark clothes and a hoodie, told the young man to give him all his money, according to police.

STAMFORD — A burglar broke into a Cove dry cleaner on Saturday and took off with a with a small amount of coins, police said.

After the alarm at Newfield Green Cleaners activated about 8:45 p.m., officers went to the 565 Elm St. facility and found that the front window had been smashed, according to the report.

Police said nothing was taken besides the coins and it’s not clear what the burglar used to smash the window.

The case is under investigation.

STAMFORD — An East Side home was struck by several bullets after numerous shots were fired in the area on Christmas Eve, police said.

Sgt. Adrian Novia said three different residents called 9-1-1 about 9 p.m. Saturday to report hearing gunshots in the neighborhood. When police arrived, they found that several rounds had struck a home on Seaton Road, near Courtland Avenue, but no one was hit.

Novia said officers canvassed the area, but they did not find the shooter or shooters.

Police are investigating.

Police say he killed Dionicia Bautista-Cano sometime after a housewarming party at the couple’s new home on Courtland Avenue and then abandoned their young daughter at busy Manhattan bus station.

During the arraignment, defense attorney Darnell Crosland said he had not been given access to his client’s court file, which includes the arrest warrant.

The judge also placed a full protective order preventing the defendant from contacting his 6-year-old daughter, who has been placed with a foster family through the state Department of Children and Families.
