Stamford’s White House jumper to be sentenced Thursday

The Stamford resident vaulted the fence wearing white pants, sneakers and an American flag tied around his neck like a cape while carrying his rendition of the Constitution in a binder clenched in his teeth.

Defense attorney Stephan Seeger has said his client’s actions are protected by the same rights every American has to free speech, expression and protest.

The attorney also submitted several letters from former college professors and friends praising Caputo, who studied criminal justice at the University of Bridgeport.

 

Shooting trial tossed, Norwalk man still gets five years on gun charge

STAMFORD-A Norwalk man, whose trial for shooting another man was tossed last week after the victim refused to take the stand against him, will still be sentenced to five years in jail after pleading guilty to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Stamford’s 9th Note closes

The 9th Note opened in November 2015 at 15 Bank St., and featured nightly performances by established musicians and Cajun cuisine.

The space, which is now empty, once housed Grand Nightclub & Restaurant.

Since closing, the club launched The 9th Note Presents, which kicks off Saturday, Jan. 21, featuring jazz vocalists Sylvia Mims, Richard Cookie Thomas and Ellynne Rey at Amadeus Piano Co., 46 Magee Ave. Tickets are $20 for the BYOB event.

 

Suspect surfaces in Stamford’s first shooting of year

Barcello said that an acquaintance of the woman’s, who has become a person of interest in the case, has been picked up by Bridgeport police on a violation of probation warrant.

Barcello said that Stamford police have not yet put together a warrant for his arrest in regards to the shooting incident at the park.

 

Irate resident charged with criminal mischief in Stamford

STAMFORD — A resident of a downtown apartment has been accused of kicking open the door to the maintenance office because he was angry the building was not being secured, police said.

The arrest stems from a police investigation into a Nov. 28 incident at a Washington Boulevard apartment building where the door to the first-floor maintenance office was kicked open, Sgt. Jennifer Lynch said.

 

Police dogs help find gun and runaway teen in Stamford

Sgt. Chris Petrizzi said that K-9 officer David Dogali was patrolling West Side with his new dog, when pulled into Rosa Hartman Park that borders Greenwich and saw two people parked in a car parked on the north end of the parking lot.

Woman shot at Holly Pond is first gunshot victim of year in Stamford

Barcello said the woman was shot early Friday evening while visiting Gus Edson Park, along Holly Pond, a popular place for people to pull over and feed the swans.

Barcello said the park is not a target of violence and the shooting was an isolated incident.

Cops raid apartment and seize drugs in Stamford

STAMFORD-A woman under investigation for selling narcotics, had her Main Street apartment raided Friday where police seized almost two ounces of cocaine.

Khnemet Serrano, 37, was charged with operating a drug factory, possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana and sales counts on each.

Capt. Richard Conklin said officers in the Narcotics and Organized Crime squad had been watching Serrano for some time, suspecting that she was selling narcotics and marijuana out of her fourth-floor apartment.

 

Man arrested after reporting death threat in Stamford

STAMFORD-A sex offender who called police to complain that someone had sent him a text message threatening his life, was arrested for not properly registering his home address.

According to the state’s Sex Offender Registry, Booker was convicted of forcible touching in New York in 2010.
