Summer meals offered in Farmington under Meet Up and Eat Up program

Free meals will be available this summer in Farmington to children age 18 and younger and to those up to age 26 who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled.Farmington Public Schools announces the sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program for children called Meet Up and Eat Up.

A protest is planned in Pontiac against the Trump administration's recently reversed policy of separating children from their parents at the border. On Wednesday, June 20, Trump signed an executive order halting the separations.

 

Milford Downtown Development Authority board adds four members

As interest and development in downtown Milford grows, so does the number of members on the village's downtown development authority (DDA) board. The board just welcomed four new members as a direct result of the increase in excitement and enthusiasm in the downtown district. The board now consists of 13 members, which is the state allowed maximum.

Suspect wanted in Lake Orion baseball bat assault

The Lake Orion Police Department is seeking information on a man suspected of committing felonious assault with a baseball bat in Lake Orion Friday, June 22, around 3:45 a.m.Mark David Rinier II, 41, of the Cincinnati area, is described as 5-foot-11 and 220 pounds with short brown hair and blue eyes.

 

Waterford police seeking suspect in iPhone theft from roller rink

The Waterford Township Police Department is seeking the identity of a suspect in the larceny of an iPhone Friday, June 8, from the Rolladium Family Fun Center on Highland Road.According to police, a customer left his phone plugged in at a table in the snack bar area around 10 p.m. The suspect then sat down at the table, taking the iPhone with her while she left.

 

Safety step: Schools share security camera images with police in emergencies

Next fall, when students return to class, Farmington Public Schools officials hope that area police can view in real time images from security cameras in the district.It's one more step the district is taking to improve safety in the wake of school shootings in Florida and Texas.In a shooting or other emergency, "this will allow us to see what's going on in there," said Farmington Hills Police Chief Chuck Nebus.

Two grant opportunities are available for business owners this summer through Main Street Oakland County and Main Street Pontiac. The first, a matching facade grant, is being offered to businesses in downtown Pontiac inside the Woodward loop.

 

A second Pontiac man charged in teen's 2016 murder

A second person has been arrested in connection with the 2016 murder of a teenage girl, an unintended victim hit by gunfire while hanging out with friends in Pontiac.Pontiac resident Adonte Marquis Bouie, 22, was arraigned June 22 for charges related to the death of Aniya Edwards, 19 of Tennessee, who was standing with a group outside an abandoned house on Thorpe Street when she was shot at around 11 p.

 

Bodman attorney reappointed to City of Birmingham Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board

Wendy L. Zabriskie of Bodman PLC has been reappointed to a three-year term on the City of Birmingham Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board, which reviews proposals for the redevelopment of eligible, environmentally contaminated property.Zabriskie is a member of Bodman's Banking and Real Estate practice groups.
