ATMs targeted in 2 Highland break-ins

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is investigating two recent break-ins involving ATMs at Highland Township stores, and believe the incidents were committed by the same suspect.The break-ins occurred less than 30 minutes apart in the early morning hours of May 12, one at the Pine Ridge Market in the 1000 block of S.

 

Convicted sex offender linked to last fall's attack of Farmington woman

Eight months after a Farmington woman was allegedly attacked outside her home in the Jamestown Apartments, a convicted sex offender has been arrested and charged with the crime.Bub Fish, a 32-year-old Saginaw resident, was linked to the Sept. 23 attack through DNA evidence collected at the scene, according to Frank Demers, director of the Farmington Public Safety Department.

 

Two Beaumont nurses named 2018 Nightingale Award winners

Marilyn Begle, RN and Kristen McGrath, RN, received Oakland University Nightingale Awards for Nursing Excellence at the Oakland University School of Nursing and Board of Visitors' 30th annual Nightingale Awards in Troy, May 10. The two registered nurses are both residents of Bloomfield Hills.

 

Royal Oak police officer fatally shoots Royal Oak man after reported stabbing

Royal Oak police say an officer fatally shot a young man Monday morning after they say he charged at the officer.Police identified the man as Cody Reynolds, 20.Police Chief Corrigan O'Donohue said the shooting happened after police got a 911 call from Reynolds' mother in the 1000 block of Hoffman, just west of Campbell Road.

 

Pontiac woman arrested in fatal shooting of boyfriend

An investigation continues into the May 10 fatal shooting of a Pontiac man, reportedly by his girlfriend.Oakland County Sheriff's deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department were called to a home in the 600 block of Lydia Lane shortly before midnight after a woman called 911, stating she had shot her boyfriend and she was dead on the couch.

 

Clarkston district official elected to MSBO Board of Directors

Mary Beth Rogers, executive director of business services for Clarkston Community Schools, was recently elected to serve on the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) Board of Directors for a three-year term. Rogers is an MBSO certified chief financial officer and has been an active MSBO member since 1999.

 

Left turns prohibited onto Kensington from Long Lake Road in Bloomfield Hills

Left turns onto Kensington Road from Long Lake Road in both directions will be prohibited, beginning Monday, May 14.The Road Commission for Oakland County has issued a permit allowing Canadian National railroad to make repairs to its bridge over Long Lake Road just west of Kensington Road in Bloomfield Hills.

 

Pontiac chamber to host brunch dining showcase

The Pontiac Regional Chamber is set to hold the first Pontiac Brunch event, similar to a restaurant week concept, on Sunday, May 20. Taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the city, the event is designed to showcase Pontiac's dining options, new and old. A recent spur of development in the downtown area over the past several years has seen the addition of new breweries and eateries come to the city.

An online campaign aimed at human trafficking has earned Oakland County a national award. The Oakland County 2018 Human Trafficking Public Awareness Campaign has been recognized with an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties.

 

Pontiac woman fatally shoots boyfriend, turns herself into police

A 34-year-old Pontiac woman is facing criminal charges after reportedly shooting and killing her boyfriend in their home late Friday night and turning herself into police shortly after.The woman called 911 around 11:50 p.m. to report that she had shot her boyfriend, a 36-year-old Pontiac man, in the home they shared together, and that he was dead on the couch.
