Marco's Pizza opens in Royal Oak with pizza party

Local entrepreneur Wally Lazar opened a Marco's Pizza in Royal Oak and is hosting a grand opening celebration, Sunday, June 24. The party is 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 24 and features free pizza, entertainment, face painting and games. The pizzeria is located at 4070 Crooks Road. The event includes a raffle where 10 people will win free pizza for a year.

Pontiac woman fighting for her life after being beaten, stabbed in face with boxcutter

A 33-year-old Waterford man is in the Oakland County Jail, suspected of stabbing a Pontiac woman repeatedly with a box cutter and beating her in the head Wednesday night.According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the 36-year-old victim was in critical but stable condition as of 1 p.m.

Three Royal Oak burglary suspects arrested in traffic stop

A traffic stop in Royal Oak led to the arrest of three suspects for burglarizing a house.The suspects are all scheduled to appear before Royal Oak 44th District Judge Jamie Wittenberg at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on charges of second-degree home invasion.Royal Oak Police Sgt. Donald Swiatkowsk said officers uncovered the burglary after stopping a Jeep on Woodward near Lincoln Avenue about 4:30 a.

 

Southfield attorney Irina Sullivan recognized for contributions to Women in Engineering

Irina Sullivan, an attorney for Brooks Kushman P.C., of Southfield, received an award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of Southeastern Michigan (IEEE SEM). Sullivan was recognized for "key contributions to IEEE SEM Women in Engineering and outstanding leadership in the 2018 spring conference organization".

 

Laura DePonio joins Birmingham law firm

DePonio has a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in public health from Tufts University Medical School.
