The Anchor Bar will reportedly open a new location in Rochester Hills in the former Famous Dave's location at 2945 S. Rochester Road. According to Downtown News magazine, Rochester Hills City Council on Monday, June 18, unanimously approved a recommendation for the Michigan Liquor Control Commission to approve the transfer of a Class C Resort Liquor License to Banana Leaf, Inc.

Pair charged in brutal box cutter attack in Pontiac

Charges have been filed against a Waterford man and an Oak Park woman in connection with a brutal attack that left a Pontiac woman critically injured. Timothy Reneer Sain III, 33, and Diana Kamairan Chamoun, 20 are charged in the June 20 assault. The victim, 36, was repeatedly stabbed with a box cutter and beaten in the head, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

 

Hyatt hotel nears completion in downtown Royal Oak, liquor license OK'd

A Hyatt Place hotel in downtown Royal Oak is expected to open later this summer, about a year after construction began on the long-awaited project.The City Commission this week approved a liquor license transfer for the hotel, which is being built as part of a mixed-use development with an apartment building and two-story parking deck nearby.

Man charged in hit and run that killed Wixom teen gets next court date

The illegal immigrant charged in killing a Wixom teenager in a hit-and-run waived his right Wednesday to have a preliminary exam within 14 days of arraignment.Miguel Ibarra-Cerda, 21, is charged with reckless driving causing death and failure to stop at the scene of an accident when at fault resulting in death in the June 11 accident which killed Justin Lee, 14.
