Cops: Danbury man mistaken as homeless gets kidnapped

DANBURY — A 77-year-old man was pushing a carriage of cans and bottles down Lincoln Avenue Wednesday evening when he was kidnapped by a man who reportedly mistook him for a homeless person, police said.

Pope was charged with second-degree kidnapping, second-degree reckless endangerment, interfering with an officer and disorderly conduct.

 

Ridgefield police, fire departments plan ‘Safety Day’

RIDGEFIELD — The Ridgefield Police Benevolent Association and the Ridgefield professional and volunteer fire departments will hold their second annual “Safety Day” on Sept. 13 in the East Ridge Middle School parking lot.

The free event will feature several safety demonstrations, including a helicopter landing on the ball field at 11:30 a.m., a crash simulator and K-9 dogs.

 

Cops: Pair caught with crack, meth and heroin at Danbury hotel

DANBURY — Two Bridgeport men are facing drug trafficking charges after police found them with heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine, authorities said.

On Wednesday afternoon, detectives stopped the suspects in the parking lot of Quality Inn & Suites, 78 Federal Road, where they found a large amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia both in the car and room, police said.

 

Man charged with exposing himself to teens at Danbury school

DANBURY — A city man was arrested this week after an investigation showed he exposed himself to a group of teenagers, police said.

Police said their investigation showed that the suspect, Daniel Rocco, drove past the girls several times and eventually exposed himself to the teens.

 

Danbury woman charged with DUI, clocked at 107 mph

SOUTHBURY — A Danbury woman stopped for driving at 107 mph on Interstate 84 early Sunday morning turned out to be intoxicated, State Police said.

Police said her blood alcohol content was two and a half times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

 

Cops: Newtown man tried to ransom stolen items back to owner

NEWTOWN — A suspected burglar was arrested Saturday after police said he tried to ransom several items he stole from a relative’s home back to the owner.

Police said that one day after the burglary, which happened Friday on Orchard Hill Road, 24-year-old Joshua Adams sent text messages to the homeowner demanding money for the return of the stolen items.

 

Nanny accused of burning child faces new charges

The new felony charges were filed as detectives continue to review footage from a hidden “nanny cam” preceding the March 27 incident, when police said she was seen on video beating and burning the victim on a stove.

 

Motorcyclist hurt in Danbury crash

DANBURY — A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after a crash on Main Street Tuesday afternoon, according to scanner reports.

The accident happened about 3:30 p.m. near Center Street.

It is not clear what caused the crash or whether there was another vehicle involved.

Police declined to provide any information.

 

Danbury man charged with stealing motorcycle

Blocker was charged with fifth-degree larceny, possession of a controlled substance and interfering with an officer.

Police said Blocker was not cooperative during the arrest, but they did not have any details on the drug charge.

 

Pedestrian hit, killed by car in New Milford

The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the 11:30 p.m. accident, according to a news release.

New Milford police were assisted by Water Witch Hose Company No. 2, New Milford medical personnel and Connecticut State Police.
