Danbury police charge man with attempted murder

Police said Alexander Chadee-Sierra Jr., 22, of Bronx, N.Y., shot the victim in the groin outside a School Ridge Road apartment the night of Oct. 29.

The victim was visiting friends when the suspect arrived and summoned him outside, according to a news release.

 

Two arrested in Danbury drug sweep

Police said they then executed a search warrant where they found cocaine packaged for sale, steroids, Viagra and oxycodone as well as an SKS Assault Rifle, a Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum revolver and four other guns.

Rotella also faces counts of illegal possession of controlled substances and illegal possession of prescribed drugs, as well as two weapons charges for the assault rifle and revolver, police said.

 

Fatal crash in New Milford

NEW MILFORD — A man was killed in a head-on collision on Litchfield Road (Route 202) near the intersection of Wheaton Road on Saturday, police said.

According to police, Corey was extricated from his Honda Accord and brought to the hospital.

 

PD: Woman hit Newtown cops in holding cell

While she waited for someone to pick her up from the Newtown Police Department, the woman “became violent toward officers and herself,” police said.

Wickman was also charged with four counts of assaulting a police officer, and one count each of interfering with an officer and third-degree criminal mischief.

 

Bethel assisted living employee charged with theft

BETHEL — A former employee at a Stony Hill Road senior living facility was charged this week with stealing nearly $5,000 from four residents.

Police said McCrea made numerous unauthorized charges to the victims’ credit cards to pay for living expenses, bills and several items for her children.

 

Man robbed at knifepoint in Danbury restaurant bathroom

DANBURY — Police are searching for a knife-wielding man who robbed a restaurant patron Thursday night on North Street.

The incident happened inside a bathroom at El Milenio Restaurant about 10:30 p.m., according to the report.

Police said the suspect threatened to use the knife on a 22-year-old man if he did not hand over his iPhone 6.

The suspect is described as a short Hispanic man with a medium build. He took off in an unknown direction, police said.

Cops: Danbury teen accosted while walking home

DANBURY — A city man is facing sexual assault charges after a teenage girl told police he accosted her Tuesday while she was walking home, authorities said.

Castro-Rodriguez was taken into custody that same afternoon and charged with sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor and second-degree breach of peace.

 

Driver hurt in Newtown rollover

NEWTOWN — One person was injured Thursday morning after a rollover crash on Mile Hill Road, a fire official said.

The driver was taken to Danbury Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, said Chief Ray Corbo, of the Newtown Hook and Ladder fire company.

Corbo said the road was slick, which likely caused the one-car accident.

The crash happened about 9:30 a.m. near Reed Intermediate School.

 

Couple charged with selling drugs from Danbury home

DANBURY — A couple is facing drug trafficking charges after police found them Wednesday with narcotics, controlled substances and cash.

The couple was charged with several offenses, including sale of controlled substances, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and risk of injury to a minor.

 

Convicted Newtown murderer dies in prison

During the 2013 trial, prosecutors said Heath killed his 30-year-old wife because he was planning to divorce her and feared losing custody of their daughter and the home he had owned since 1973.

A key piece of evidence was a recorded interview in which Heath made denigrating comments to police about his wife.

Heath lived in Bridgewater before his conviction, running a commercial painting business.
