More guns found in home of Newtown man charged in shooting

Police said Michael Dziubina, 27, of Newtown, was arrested after police said he shot a door open to get inside another person’s home on Andras Road, which is adjacent to Paugussett State Forest.

Dziubina was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree burglary, home invasion, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm and first-degree criminal mischief.

 

Danbury man charged with having child pornography

The state police Computer Crimes Unit began investigating in June after authorities received a complaint that suspected child pornography was saved on a cloud storage device, police said.

After police said Barker was identified as a suspect through search and seizure warrants, police seized two of his cell phones in August and said they found child pornography.

 

Inmate found dead after fight in CT prison

The Connecticut Department of Correction says a prison inmate is dead after what is believed to be a fight with another inmate in a jail cell.

Records in the state Judicial Branch also show arrests of Gattert in West Haven, New Haven and Eart Haven on charges of failure to register as a sex offender, violation of a protective order and violation of probation.

 

Crash partially closes Route 7 in Danbury

UPDATE, 7:56 p.m. Connecticut State Police tweeted the following at roughly 5 p.m.: “clear from Route 7 south crash, minor injuries, other troopers and FD still on scene.”

Before the crash, Ridgefield police received several phone calls about an erratic driver traveling north on Route 7.

 

Danbury man charged with sexually abusing child

DANBURY — A city man was arrested Friday on allegations that he sexually abused an 11-year-old girl.

Arturo Hernandez, 36, of Danbury, is being held on a $50,000 bond on charges of fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

A warrant for his arrest was issued Tuesday as a result of an investigation by the Danbury Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.

Hernandez was taken into custody Friday morning in South Salem, N.Y.

Brookfield surgeon accused of illegally prescribing drugs to pay $150k

A Brookfield plastic surgeon has agreed to pay $150,000 to settle allegations that she illegally prescribed narcotic drugs, authorities said.

“This settlement sends a message to the medical community that there are real consequences for practicing medicine outside the proper course of medical practice,” Deirdre said in a news release Thursday afternoon.

 

Facebook rant lands Roxbury man in jail

ROXBURY — Ranting against the state Department of Motor Vehicles is not uncommon, but police say a man this week took his frustration way too far on his Facebook page.

Alexander Villareal, 23, of Roxbury, was arrested Wednesday because of a post where he said he wanted to “shoot up the DMV,” State Police said.

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection spent 10 days combing the reservoir for airplane parts and the victims.

Search teams eventually found some human remains as well as the propeller, parts of the engine, large portions of the wings, the cockpit, the tail, a control panel and a firewall.

 

Retired Danbury police sergeant dies at 51

DANBURY — The law enforcement community is mourning the death of a retired city police sergeant described by many as a devoted officer, father and husband.

Adam Fernand, who served the department for nearly three decades, lost a battle with liver and kidney disease on Tuesday.

Less than two weeks ago, Siedlecki set up a fundraising effort on giveforward.com to help Fernand pay for his medical treatment.

Lt. Christian Carroccio, the police department’s spokesman, said Fernand was a friend and a mentor to other officers.
