LIMA — It may have only lasted at its peak for a few minutes, but Monday’s solar eclipse had many Americans, including many in Lima, looking to the skies.
The first total solar eclipse viewable in the United States since 1979 cast a shadow from coast to coast, working its way through 14 states from Oregon to South Carolina. In Lima, the moon did not blot the sun out completely, but viewers still witnessed more than 80 percent of the sun removed from view, leaving only a thin crescent still viewable through the many eclipse glasses in use.
