An illegal immigrant teen now being held by immigration authorities told an East Boston High administrator he threatened to commit a massacre at the school because “I felt bad for what happened in Florida,” according to a police report on the incident.

Strapping 1,500 body cameras on patrol officers could cost $25 million, according to police brass who yesterday mostly lauded the technology as city officials continue to mull their effectiveness.Police Commissioner William B. Evans yesterday told the City Council’s Committee on Public Safety and Criminal Justice a yearlong pilot program that outfitted 100 officers with cameras was largely successful. Evans said the cameras have garnered praise from Mayor Martin J. Walsh, prosecutors and defense attorneys and even his once-hesitant officers.

Judge tosses Massachusetts lawsuit over birth control rules

BOSTON — A federal judge has tossed the Massachusetts attorney general's lawsuit against President Donald Trump's administration over rules allowing more employers to opt out of providing no-cost birth control to women.U.S. District Judge Nathaniel Gorton ruled against Democratic Attorney General Maura Healey on Monday. Gorton said the state lacks standing to sue.Healey said in a statement that she's disappointed in the decision but remains committed to ensuring "affordable and reliable reproductive health care for women."

 

Levine fired by Met after it finds evidence of sexual abuse

NEW YORK — The Metropolitan Opera fired music director emeritus James Levine after an investigation found evidence of sexual abuse and harassment.Levine was suspended by the Met in December pending the investigation.The Met says in a Monday statement that its investigation found Levine "engaged in sexually abusive and harassing conduct towards vulnerable artists in the early stages of their careers." The company says "it would be inappropriate and impossible for Mr. Levine to continue to work at the Met."

 

School employee admits to child solicitation charge

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A Massachusetts school employee is admitting to traveling to Rhode Island to solicit sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.U.S. Attorney Stephen Dambruch says 29-year-old Alexander Viola said in federal court that he intended to meet the girl in Cranston, RI in 2016 after having conversations via text and on the internet of a sexual nature.

Wake, funeral slated for mom, children found slain in home

WEST BROOKFIELD, Mass. — A Massachusetts mother and her three children found slain in their home are being laid to rest.A wake for 38-year-old Sara Bermudez, 8-year-old Madison Bermudez, 6-year-old James Bermudez and 2-year-old Michael Bermudez is scheduled for Monday.A funeral Mass is scheduled for All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Ware on Tuesday.They were found March 1 in their West Brookfield home by police making a well-being check.The deaths were ruled homicides but authorities have not announced any arrests.

 

Historic African-American site vandalized with racist slurs

NANTUCKET, Mass. — An African-American historic site has been vandalized with racist graffiti.The outside of the 19th century African Meeting House in Nantucket was spray-painted with racist and sexually explicit slurs.The Nantucket Police Department is investigating the incident, and gathered evidence before dozens of community members scrubbed the paint off the front door on Sunday morning.The director of the African meeting house Charity-Grace Mofsen told the Cape Cod Times , "I broke down," as she reacted to seeing the graffiti.
