Doctors and medical students across the Boston area will participate in today’s national walkout for gun control to shed light on what they say is a growing public health crisis.

Immigration authorities are preventing an undocumented immigrant from answering charges against him in state court, putting him in a legal Catch-22 that could make it impossible for him to gain citizenship and live in the United States with his pregnant wife, civil rights attorneys say.“We are concerned that ICE is not only picking people up at courthouses, but that they are also refusing to let them attend state court proceedings,” said Adriana Lafaille, a staff attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts.

 

Loved ones brave cold to mourn slain West Brookfield mom, kids

WARE — More than three dozen mourners braved blizzard conditions and treacherous travel yesterday to say their farewells to a slain West Brookfield mother and her three young children.Despite the nor’easter, funeral services went on as planned at All Saints Catholic Church in Ware for Sara Bermudez, 38, her daughter Madison, 8, and sons James, 6, and Michael, 2.Bermudez, a native of El Salvador, and her children were interred together in a special casket at the request of their family.
