Immigration authorities are preventing an undocumented immigrant from answering charges against him in state court, putting him in a legal Catch-22 that could make it impossible for him to gain citizenship and live in the United States with his pregnant wife, civil rights attorneys say.“We are concerned that ICE is not only picking people up at courthouses, but that they are also refusing to let them attend state court proceedings,” said Adriana Lafaille, a staff attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts.
