VAN WERT — Lifetree Cafe is exploring the topic of following your dreams from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Bachwell Center, 116 N. Washington St., Van Wert.
America’s Got Talent performer Mandy Harvey will be featured in a filmed interview. Harvey is a jazz vocalist whose hearing loss nearly prevented her dream of becoming a professional singer.

Sheriff’s academy planned in Celina

CELINA — The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office will host a Citizen Academy in October that provides residents the opportunity to see an overview the office and how it differs from other law enforcement agencies.
According to Sheriff Jeff Grey, this will be the fourth citizen’s academy. The first was hosted in 2013 and culminated in the graduation of 11 students.

 

Support group for depression and bi-polar individuals and family in Wapakoneta

LIMA — Shelter from the Storm, a depression and bi-polar support group for individuals, family or friends will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday evenings, at First English Luthern Church, 107 W. Mechanic St., Wapakoneta.

Takacs, a photographer, has an exhibit titled, “Brownie in Motion” which will be on exhibit at the university through Sept. 22.

 

ONU presents lecture series with Emily Houh

ADA — Ohio Northern University College of Law will present a lecture series at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the Celebrezze Moot Courtroom in the Ohio Northern University College of Law, 415 S. Gilbert St., Ada.
Guest speaker is Emily Houh discussing “On Professors, Podcasts and the Democratization of ‘Elite’ Knowledge.” The lecture is free and open to the public.

 

St. Mark’s United Methodist Church hosting all you can eat fish fry

LIMA — St. Mark’s United Methodist Church is holding an all you can eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the church located at 1110 North Metcalf St., Lima. Tickets are available at the church. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.
Dinner includes all you can eat fish, cole slaw, applesauce, baked beans, roll and beverages. Carry outs are available.
