Apollo offering Aspire-ABLE/GED/ESOL program orientation

LIMA — Apollo Adult Education is offering ABLE/GED/ESOL orientation from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the Apollo Adult Education Building, Room 562, 3325 Shawnee Road, Lima. This orientation will outline the requirements and offerings of the FREE Aspire-ABLE/GED program.
There will be an evening session offered from 6 to 9 p.m. as well on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Free haircuts for Youngstown students, parents and teachers

YOUNGSTOWN — Volunteers have teamed up to give more than 500 Ohio school students, their parents and teachers a haircut just in time for the first day of school.
The Vindicator reports that the Fresh Start event happened at East High School in Youngstown in northeastern Ohio Sunday in preparation for school Tuesday.

 

Who’s inaccurate, Ohio State’s Barrett or critics?

COLUMBUS — J.T. Barrett wins football games and wins awards but can’t seem to win in the court of public opinion.
Ohio State is 27-4 in games Barrett has started the last four seasons. He was the first-team All-Big Ten quarterback last season.
This week he shared Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors with Penn State running back Saquon Barkley after throwing for 304 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-21 win over Indiana last Thursday.

 

Lima Exchange Club members discussing Sept. 11 memories

LIMA — The Lima Exchange Club will meet at 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 11, at Milano Cafe, 2383 Elida Road, Lima.
Members will share experiences of where they were on Sept. 11, 2001, during the terrorist attacks.
