Target clerk charged with theft of cell phones in Stamford

STAMFORD-A Target department store clerk was charged with stealing several cell phones worth over $3,400 in July.

Store security reported that Leveille was responsible for the theft of $3,406 worth of cellular devices and was charged in an arrest warrant for third-degree larceny, Scatamacchia said.

Convicted shooter in Stamford gets five years for gun plea

STAMFORD-A city man arrested in July for stashing a pistol in a dumpster on the way to see his probation officer at the Stamford courthouse, accepted a five-year jail sentence Tuesday.

Victor Cruz, 21, of Seaside Avenue pleaded guilty Tuesday to being a felon in possession of a pistol and was given a five-year jail sentence and three years’ probation by Judge Gary White.

Figuring that Cruz may be connected to the shooting, police officers began trailing him to see where he was going.

In the afternoon of July 21 they followed him to the courthouse where he had an appointment with his prob

 

Stamford police give distracted drivers 57 tickets

On Monday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.. “in addition to our regular patrol officers, we utilized a grant from the Connecticut Department of Transportation to hire a few extra officers to assist,” police posted on their Facebook page.

“The officers issued 22 tickets for drivers talking on cell phones, 25 for texting while driving, 10 miscellaneous other motor vehicle infractions and one driver who was caught texting also had no driver's license and a warrant for failure to appear” in court.

State Police Trooper Kelly Grant said the vehicle “was reported to have been involved in an evading crash in Stratford earlier in night after striking the personal vehicle of an off-duty trooper.”

The crash scene has been cleared and will not affect the morning commute.

 

Stamford teen who shot kid for pot pleads guilty to armed robbery

STAMFORD-A Stamford teen who shot a New Britain teen while stealing about a quarter-pound of marijuana last November has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of armed robbery.

Stamford voter registration session planned ahead of upcoming election

STAMFORD — Residents who are not registered to vote can sign up this month ahead of the Sept. 12 primary and Nov. 7 general election for municipal office.

The special session is Tuesday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the voter registrar’s office on the sixth floor of the Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.

 

Victoria Secret charged with reckless endangerment in Stamford

Police say Victoria Secret Robinson, 33, of Lillian Street, Stamford, was charged with third-degree assault, reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a child.

Sgt. Simon Blanc said police were dispatched lights and sirens to Lillian Street at about 3 p.m. Saturday on the report of an aggravated assault.

When police got to the home they found about a half-dozen people in the driveway and a New York City woman sitting in a vehicle with her hair disheveled and tangled as though she had just been in a fight, Blanc said.
