STAMFORD-A city man arrested in July for stashing a pistol in a dumpster on the way to see his probation officer at the Stamford courthouse, accepted a five-year jail sentence Tuesday. Victor Cruz, 21, of Seaside Avenue pleaded guilty Tuesday to being a felon in possession of a pistol and was given a five-year jail sentence and three years’ probation by Judge Gary White. Figuring that Cruz may be connected to the shooting, police officers began trailing him to see where he was going. In the afternoon of July 21 they followed him to the courthouse where he had an appointment with his probation officer.
