Boy caught stealing from cars in Shippan

The arrest was made when a resident on Lanark Road heard his dog bark and watched as the motion sensor in his driveway go on.

After being taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass and interfering with police police found a a large quantity of change in his bag, believed to be the proceeds from thefts of motor vehicles in the area.

 

Chelsea Piers near-drowning victim makes ‘miracle’ recovery

Conklin credited the boy’s recovery to the immediate treatment he received from the Chelsea Piers staff, followed by Stamford Hospital doctors stabilizing his seizures before the child was flown to New Haven late Thursday afternoon.

The boy was enrolled in a soccer camp that took a break Thursday at Chelsea Piers’ Splash Zone, a 6,000-square foot area containing three pools with slides and other children’s activities, when he slipped underwater unnoticed.

Police are still conducting interviews to determine if criminal negligence was a factor in the incident.

 

Stamford gallery’s live art show sells out

STAMFORD — The 100 canvasses that make up a mural created by seven Connecticut artists during a live art show have all been claimed after guests showed up in droves to the event last weekend.

“The mural is finished and it completely exceeded my expectations,” said Danger Gallery owner and video artist Holly Danger, who organized the show at her Glenbrook gallery.

 

Stamford man charged with sending sex video of ex

STAMFORD-A city man was charged with sending sex videos of his ex-girlfriend to her new boyfriend and his parents were charged with breach of peace when police arrested their son over the weekend.

Sgt. Rhett Connolly said police were called to the home of city woman on Saturday afternoon who told them that her current boyfriend had been sent explicit sex videos of her by her old boyfriend Matthew Johnson-Kirby.

Matthew Kirby was charged with disseminating voyeuristic material, violating a protective order, harassment and resisting arrest. he was held on a $50,000 court appearance bond.

 

Stamford man robbed in West Side home invasion

Realizing he did not know the men, he went into his residence but was followed by three men and one was threatening the man with a screwdriver.

[...] the man called for his roommate to help and when he showed up the three ran out of the building and were not found after police arrived.

 

Smash and grab thief steals $100 from diner

A smash and grab thief broke the front door window of Elm Street Diner and stole $100 dollars from a cash register overnight Saturday into Sunday, according to Stamford police.

Stamford jury acquits man of sex assault of daughter’s friend

Four men and two women unanimously decided that Aziz El Hattab, 44, was not guilty of fourth degree sexual assault and a felony charge of risk of injury to a child.

El Hattab’s trial began Monday with the state’s star witness, the victim in the case who told the jury that El Hattab came into the room where she was sleeping with El Hattab’s daughter and son and felt one of her breasts on two occasions on the same night.

[...] the girl immediately told her mother that El Hattab fondled her and the mother did cause a scene on the front steps of his home and called police.

 

Boy who nearly drowned at Chelsea Piers still unconscious

STAMFORD-The five-year-old New Canaan boy who nearly drowned in the Chelsea Piers Splash Zone on Thursday afternoon remains in the intensive care unit and has not yet regained consciousness. The boy was pulled out of the pool, one of three in the Splash Zone, by a 23-year-old lifeguard after spending three minutes underwater at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Conklin said. Conkin said the boy was in one of three pools in the Splash Zone because he was in a soccer camp program offered by Chelsea Piers.

 

Boy revived after nearly drowning at Chelsea Piers in Stamford

Capt. Richard Conklin said medics were called to the pool on Stamford’s East Side about 12:45 p.m. for the child who was believed to have been submerged under water for about three minutes.

Being under in cold water for three minutes may not cause problems with the brain, but in warm water it could, Conklin said.

Conklin said there were camp counselors, lifeguards and other children at the pool when the incident occurred.

 

Pistol seized in Stamford road rage incident

Witnesses told police the accident was caused by a motorist seeing a woman step out of a car with a handgun and throwing his vehicle in reverse while trying to get away.

The 29-year-old woman was called into police headquarters later Wednesday and her pistol permit and semiautomatic Glock pistol were seized pending further investigation into the case, Phelan said.
