Man facing 4th drunk driving charge in Ferndale has 32 license suspensions

A man charged with felony fourth-time drunken driving and driving on a license with 32 suspensions on it in Ferndale was ordered to stand trial Thursday.Lacy Minter, 49, of Detroit was in Ferndale 43rd District Court on Thursday for a probable cause hearing, waived his right to a preliminary examination and was ordered to trial in Oakland County Circuit Court.

 

Intersection of Andersonville Road, Dixie Highway closed due to crash

The intersection of Andersonville Road and Dixie Highway in Waterford Township will be closed for a couple of hours due to a crash, according to WDIV. Authorities are saying there was a motorcycle involved in the crash. No further details were released at this time. Check back for more information as it becomes available.

The Oakland University Board of Trustees has set a 3.8 percent tuition increase for resident undergraduates. The increase is a part of a $275 million budget for the fiscal year 2019, approved by the board on Monday, June 4. The 3.8 percent increase is equivalent to $15.75 per credit hour, according to the university and is within the state's likely tuition restraint for annual increases.

Closed for seven months following health code violations, Como's restaurant in Ferndale now has a new owner.The news was greeted with optimism by Ferndale city and downtown leaders. The restaurant is planned to open again in spring 2019.Owners of Peas and Carrots Hospitality, led by chef and owner Zack Sklar, announced they closed on the sale Wednesday and are keeping the name of the restaurant at Nine Mile and Woodward when they reopen it with an Italian "pizza-centered" menu and a selection of beers on tap.

Michigan Senate Majority Floor Leader Mike Kowall will sponsor a formal Vietnam veteran lapel pinning ceremony for Vietnam War veterans and their families. Kowall, R-White Lake, and the Holly Area Veterans Resource Center will host the "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Event to Thank and Honor Vietnam Veterans and Their Families" in Holly in commemoration of the 50-year anniversary of the war.
