Soon to be ex-wife assaults husband’s new girlfriend in Stamford

STAMFORD-A New York woman, angry with her soon-to-be husband’s new girlfriend, allegedly broke into the woman’s West Side home early Sunday and began breaking up the woman’s possessions, police said.

When the resident tried to stop Soriano, she grabbed the woman’s hair and began scratching and spitting in her face, police said.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for New Haven County and a winter weather advisory for Fairfield County.

Snow totals have also increased for Fairfield County.

In Fairfield County, the NWS’s most likely accumulation totals are 6 to 8 inches in Bridgeport, 4 to 6 inches in Greenwich, Stamford and Norwalk.

In Litchfield County, in towns like New Milford, there is also a winter advisory with snow totals expected in the 4-6 inch range.

Unlike other storms, this will be an all-snow event with “wintry mix” of sleet,

 

Whiplash winter ahead

Significant rainfall in late December and over the first few days of 2017 upgraded lower Fairfield County’s drought condition from severe’’ to moderate,’’ according to the U.S. Drought Monitor’s latest report. For the first time in Connecticut history, officials declared a drought watch last year to encourage residents, businesses and local governments to voluntarily reduce their water use by 15 percent.

 

Stakeout nets two kids burglarizing cars in Stamford

STAMFORD-An early morning stakeout in Cove neighborhood hard hit by car break-ins resulted in the arrests of two juveniles on Friday, police said.

Jagodzinski called for uniformed officers and the two 15-year-old boys were taken into custody.

Because of their ages police did not release their names.

 

Norwalk courthouse arsonist to get 12-years behind bars

Assistant State’s Attorney Michelle Manning, who prosecuted the case during a five day trial at the Stamford courthouse in late October, asked Stamford Judge Gary White to sentence Stephenson to 15 years in jail, followed by five years special parole.

A DNA researcher from the state forensic lab testified during trial that he matched Stephenson’s DNA to samples collected on each of the 32-ounce kerosene bottles as well as a canvas bag found next to them inside the state’s attorneys office as well as a hammer found near the exit of the courthouse.

Death of homeless man in Stamford, not suspicious police say

STAMFORD-The death of 46-year-old homeless man found between two West Side homes late Thursday afternoon does not involve foul play, police said Friday morning. The Bureau of Criminal Investigations was sent to the scene and cordoned off the area and called for crime scene investigators to comb through the alleyway between the homes looking for clues.

 

Major roads just wet; slippery still conditions possible

Major highways like the I-95, I-84 and the Merritt and Wilbur Cross parkways are mainly wet after being treated with a salt brine solution by state Department of Transportation Department crews.

Shoplifting charge for Stamford woman who caused bomb scare at police HQ

STAMFORD-A woman who claimed to have run over a pipe bomb in her car and brought the device into Stamford police headquarters causing a needless scare at the end of November, was charged with shoplifting Wednesday.

Police stopped the vehicle being driven by Anna Jack, 30, who locked the doors of her car, refusing the police officer’s commands to step out.

The device Jack brought into Stamford police headquarters early in the morning of Nov 30, turned out to be some construction debris and not explosives.

 

Stamford police investigate death on West Side

The department’s crime scene investigation truck was called to the scene as well as a light truck to help investigators search for evidence.

The detectives were closely examining the alleyway between the homes where the body was discovered.
