Man alarms Stamford doughnut shop after brandishing pellet gun

STAMFORD-Just minutes before city residents rang in the New Year on Saturday night, city police were dispatched to a call for a man brandishing what appeared to be a semiautomatic pistol in a downtown doughnut shop.

Sevilla was charged with brandishing a facsimile firearm, threatening, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and was held in lieu of a $10,000 court appearance bond.

 

Motel vacation turns ugly in Stamford

STAMFORD-A New Year’s Eve vacation at an East Side motel turned into a night behind bars for a homeless man after he allegedly tried to rob his girlfriend’s cell phone, police said.

Police were called to America’s Best Value Inn on East Main Street at 1:20 a.m. New Year’s Day when a woman called police to report that after choking her, Thomas Golterman, 45, attempted to rob her of her cell phone, Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said.

 

Driver killed in early morning crash

STAMFORD - A driver was killed in a car crash on Stillwater Avenue early Sunday morning, according to police.

Police said the driver was traveling westbound on Stillwater Avenue near Progress Drive shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday. He failed to negotiate a curve properly and hit a tree on the northeast corner of Progress Drive, according to police. Police said speed was a factor in the crash.

The driver was the only person in the car.

Police have not released the identity of the driver at this time.

 

New state laws go into effect January 1

2 dead in shooting outside Oakdale theater

WALLINGFORD - Police say two are dead and two injured after a shooting outside a Connecticut theater late Friday night following a concert.

A Wallingford police spokeswoman tells the Record Journal (http://bit.ly/2hVKvqz ) that officers responded to reports of shots fired outside the Oakdale Theatre after rapper Meek Mill performed.

 

Driver in Strawberry Hill pedestrian tragedy pleads not guilty

Stamford man faces weapon and burglary charges

STAMFORD — A 26-year-old city man was charged with possession of an illegal weapon and burglary of a car on Garden Street after being found with an air rifle following a motor vehicle stop.

Worsley was charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon, third degree burglary, conspiracy to third degree burglary fifth-degree larceny from a motor vehicle, and three counts of second-degree failure to appear.

 

Video shows burglar inside Stamford pizzeria

The two-minute surveillance video released Wednesday afternoon shows what appears to be a white or Hispanic man walking outside Michael’s Pizza, 118 Cove Road, and then inside the restaurant about 3 a..m. on Dec. 17. Police believe the man seen on the security footage also broke into Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant, 598 Cove Road, that same morning.

 

Stamford teen charged with burglary

The Stamford teen was first spotted about 9 p.m. when a Hubbard Avenue resident looked outside his window and saw him breaking into a neighbor’s car, Sgt. Jennifer Lynch said.

The teen, who police said was not cooperative during his arrest and booking, was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer, among other offenses.
