Three Danbury men charged with beating another

DANBURY — Three city residents face assault charges after police said they beat a man at a large outdoor party early Wednesday morning.

Police said the incident took place about 1 a.m. at Lake Waubeeka, a gated neighborhood on Post Road, after one of the suspects had an argument with the victim.

 

Ridgefield cops investigate string of commercial break-ins

RIDGEFIELD — Police are investigating a series of burglaries targeting commercial buildings in town over the past two weeks.

Police said at least one burglar broke into several offices inside the building between May 14 and the morning of May 16, but it’s not clear whether anything was stolen.

Police: Danbury woman tried to bring guns on plane

A Danbury woman was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport after telling airport police she wanted to bring her guns onto the plane, authorities said.

Port Authority Police said she had two semiautomatic pistols, a Kimber .45 caliber and a Ruger .38 caliber, with loaded magazines.

 

PD: Knife-wielding Danbury man attacked pawn shop employee

Lt. Christian Carroccio said one of the employees then locked the door as he called 911 to keep Perez-Guzman from attacking pedestrians outside the store.

Perez-Guzman refused to drop the knife, but he walked to the corner of Keller Street and dropped to his knees with his back to the officers, Carroccio said.

Perez-Guzman was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer, threatening, disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief.

 

Police activity closes road in Danbury

DANBURY — A massive police presence was seen on Franklin Street on Tuesday afternoon as authorities searched for at least one robbery suspect.

No details were immediately available, but the search kept residents out of the area for part of the afternoon. Franklin Street was temporarily closed at 2 p.m. between Raymond Place and Main Street.

State troopers, an ambulance and SWAT officers were in the area assisting Danbury police.

SWAT officers began searching the train tracks about 3 p.m. and the road was re-opened.

 

Driver runs out of gas while fleeing Brookfield police

BROOKFIELD — An unlicensed driver who refused to stop for police Sunday night was arrested after he ran out of gas, authorities said.

An officer then tried to stop Mourning with his lights and sirens, but the driver refused to obey and began passing other cars through the southbound and northbound lanes, police said.

New rail rules designed to protect track workers

WASHINGTON — The Federal Railroad Administration issued two rules Friday aimed at preventing injury to track workers, an outgrowth of accidents including the death of Metro-North supervisor Robert Luden, who was killed in 2013 by a New York-bound commuter train.
