Cops: Drunk man caught driving on YMCA field

BROOKFIELD — Police said an intoxicated man was caught “driving erratically” on the grass and field of a local YMCA.

Robert Orvis, 53, of Danbury, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs following Friday’s incident at the Brookfield YMCA.

He’s scheduled to appear in court June 21.

 

Danbury teen robbed at gunpoint

The suspect, Jahki Scott, had arranged to meet with the 15-year-old victim at an Eden Drive basketball court so the boy could sell him his sneakers, according to the report.

The victim then followed Scott into the woods, where the suspect reportedly pulled out a gun out of his waistband, pointed to the boy’s face and told him to put the sneakers down, police said.

 

New Milford man charged in bar fight

NEW MILFORD — A man faces assault charges after police said he attacked another patron at a local restaurant, sending him to the hospital with minor injuries.

Christopher Nelson, 33, turned himself in to police Thursday on a warrant stemming from a May 5 incident at Fajitas & Margaritas Restaurant, 129 Danbury Road.

Police said an investigation showed he assaulted a 22-year-old man that night. The victim was treated at Danbury Hospital.

Nelson was charged with second-degree assault and breach of peace.

 

Cops: Danbury man broke into home to steal games

NEW MILFORD — Police charged a convicted burglar last week after an investigation found he broke into an apartment earlier this spring to steal an Xbox game system.

New Milford Police said he took the Xbox and seven assorted games from a Wellsville Avenue apartment on April 1.

 

Another person found dead in Danbury

DANBURY — Police said a 49-year-old man was found dead Monday behind a trash bin on Main Street — the city’s second untimely death in four days. The case is under investigation, pending results from the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

BETHEL — Police are asking the public to help them identify a man they believe stole a truck filled with construction equipment earlier this month.

 

Fight outside Danbury restaurant sends one to hospital

A Danbury man was arrested after smashing a bottle across another man’s face, Saturday, police said. Oscar Vasquez, 36, and another man, referred to as “John doe” in the police report, were arguing in the alley next to the Copacabana Cafe on Ives Street around 12:55 a.m. Saturday.

 

Bridgewater woman killed in a head-on collision

BRIDGEWATER — A 36-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning after a head-on collision on Route 67, State Police said.

Jessie Mayer, of Bridgewater, was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta south on the state road, when Donald Mcguinness, who was traveling north in a 2000 Dodge Durango, crossed the solid double-painted lines and collided with Mayer around 2:18 a.m., according to an accident report from Connecticut State Police.

 

Woman found dead in Danbury

Lt. Andrew Corrado said the woman had “no apparent signs of trauma,” but her body was taken to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further tests.

Danbury police detectives and evidence technicians were also on the scene.

 

Dispute over drug deal leads to five arrests in Danbury

DANBURY — An officer was attacked and five people were arrested following a dispute over a drug deal Tuesday, police said.

When police arrived, they found Figueroa and the juvenile running after Zanesky with a baseball bat and a pipe, according to the report.

Veness and the teen were also taken to the police station while Figueroa, charged with breach of peace, was released on a promise to appear in court.

Zanesky was charged with assault on a police officer, interfering with an officer, third-degree assault and breach of peace.
