Oregon State Police arrested a La Pine motorcyclist Monday who hid in a hunter’s tree stand after fleeing police.Chris Campbell, 30, was held in the Deschutes County jail on charges of felony attempt to elude, reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person.

 

Contractor rebuts dumpster fire allegation

A painting contractor named by La Pine firefighters as partially responsible for a dumpster fire outside a condominium last week disputes the allegation.Dan Stone of Clearwater Construction said Monday he disposed of masking paper and tape in a dumpster at the opposite end of the Powder Village Condominiums from the dumpster where the fire started Sept. 10.

The Oregon State Police arrested a 26-year-old Bend man Saturday afternoon, after the man allegedly led police on a car chase early that morning.Just after 2 a. m.

 

Practice grenade found in La Pine

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported the discovery Saturday afternoon of a military practice grenade deemed dangerous in La Pine.A person on litter patrol along Burgess Road near Ponderosa Way discovered the grenade and called it in at 2:47 p.
