Bend room tax collections rise

Lodging taxes collected in the city of Bend in July, the first month of the new fiscal year, increased 7.9 percent over July 2012, according to figures released Tuesday by Visit Bend, the city’s tourism agency.“Room tax collections continue to stay strong," Doug La Placa, Visit Bend CEO and president told board members during a meeting.

 

Can redemption center approved

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission approved a beverage container redemption center during its meeting last week.The BottleDrop Redemption Center will be located at 755 N. E. Second St.It will be operated by the Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative and will allow one person to return up to 350 containers each day.
