Dayville man Tasered after leading chase in stolen car

Police used a Taser Saturday night to capture a Dayville man suspected of stealing a car from the Bethlehem Inn.Ricky Allen Elliott, 50, was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felony attempt to elude in a vehicle, reckless driving and resisting arrest, among other charges, according to the Oregon State Police.

 

Body found in camper fire

A man was found dead inside a camper that burned in Alfalfa early Saturday, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.The Sheriff's Office identified the man as 54-year-old Bruce Hammer. Hammer's body was discovered as investigators began looking into the cause of the fire.Residents of 23370 Alfalfa Market Road called 911 upon discovering the camper on fire on their property at around 4:13 a.m.

Eugene police explain use of flash grenade

The percussion-grenade tactics Eugene police used Thursday to arrest a suspected gang member with a criminal past mirrored those employed a year ago when the same team of officers apprehended one of the man’s alleged cohorts.Police Sgt. Scott McKee acknowledged Friday that the Sheldon Plaza parking lot off Coburg Road was “not an optimal place" for officers to have deployed a percussion grenade shortly after 4 p.m.

 

Redmond man in custody after shot fired

A 24-year-old Redmond man believed to have fired a gunshot while in the midst of a mental crisis was detained for evaluation early Saturday, according to Redmond Police Department.Police were called to a home near the intersection of Southwest 17th Street and Southwest Kalama Avenue at around 4:50 a.m.

 

Reed Market Road to partially reopen

A portion of Reed Market Road that has been closed for construction for several months is due to open today, project manager David Abbas said Saturday.Favorable weather allowed crews to finish striping the road between Shadowood Drive and Orion Drive on Saturday, Abbas said.
